Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenna Lermon.
Hi Brenna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Long before I ever stood before a judge, I was a little girl growing up in the small Texas Panhandle town of Borger with an unlikely hero: Ben Matlock.
While most people watched the show *Matlock* for the mystery, I watched for something deeper. I saw someone who used knowledge, conviction, and courage to stand up for people who could not stand up for themselves. Looking back, I realize those afternoons planted the seed for what would become my life’s calling.
As the third of four daughters, I was raised with the values of hard work, perseverance, and faith. My relationship with Jesus Christ became the foundation of my life and the lens through which I view every opportunity; not simply as a career, but as a calling to serve others.
That calling led me from Borger to the University of Houston, where I graduated magna cum laude, before earning my Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Houston Law Center. As Managing Editor of the *Houston Law Review* and a member of the Order of the Barons, I developed the discipline and pursuit of excellence that have shaped my legal career.
I went on to practice at two internationally respected law firms before serving as Principal Counsel for Employment and Litigation at Cheniere Energy, a Fortune 150 company where I advised on complex workplace issues and high-stakes employment matters.
By many standards, I had achieved the career I worked so hard to build.
Yet even then, I knew my purpose was bigger than the next title.
I stepped away from corporate practice to found The Lermon Law Group, where I have the privilege of representing both employers and employees through some of the most significant moments of their professional lives. Soon after, I launched Dynasty Workforce Solutions, expanding that mission beyond legal counsel to help organizations build healthier workplaces through leadership, strategy, investigations, technology, and workforce development.
Service has always extended far beyond my businesses.
As Commissioner and later Vice Chair of the Houston Civil Service Commission, I believed public office required the courage to ask difficult questions. My commitment to exposing and combating human trafficking ultimately cost me my appointment—but never my convictions. That season reinforced one of the greatest lessons of my life: integrity is rarely tested when doing the right thing is easy.
Like many people I now have the privilege of encouraging, my story has also been shaped by seasons of disappointment and rebuilding. Those seasons taught me that God seldom wastes our hardest moments. Instead, He uses them to refine our purpose, deepen our faith, strengthen our resolve, and cultivate a greater compassion for the people we are called to serve.
Today, my work spans law, business, ministry, and community leadership. I serve as an Apostle and Pastor at RIG Church Houston, sit on the Board of Let Heaven Come Church, and recently accepted a position on the Board of Directors for the East Harris County Empowerment Council, where I look forward to helping advance economic opportunity and community development throughout East Harris County.
I have been blessed to be recognized as a Houstonia Top Lawyer, a Thomson Reuters Texas Rising Star, and one of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. But those honors have never been my definition of success.
For me, success is measured by faithfulness to the calling God has placed on my life: to pursue justice, develop leaders, strengthen communities, and leave every person and every place better than I found them.
Looking back, it seems fitting that the little girl who dreamed of becoming a lawyer after watching *Matlock* eventually found her way into the courtroom. What I never could have imagined was that the courtroom would become only one of many places where God would give me the opportunity to fight for people.
The practice of law has never been the destination. It has simply been one of the many ways I get to live out the mission God placed on my heart so many years ago: to love Him wholeheartedly, serve people courageously, and lead with integrity wherever He opens a door.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. Looking back, I wouldn’t have wanted it to be a smooth road because every challenge shaped who I am today.
I grew up in Borger, Texas, in a family that didn’t have much financially, but I never felt poor in the ways that mattered most. My parents taught my sisters and me the value of hard work, integrity, and earning everything we received. I was the first lawyer in my family (and the first to attend graduate school), which meant I entered law school without a roadmap. Everyone else seemed to know the language, the expectations, and how the profession worked. I often felt like I was trying to figure it out as I went.
That feeling didn’t disappear after graduation. As a first-year associate at a large law firm, I worked incredibly long hours and constantly questioned whether I belonged. There were many moments when I felt completely overwhelmed and convinced everyone else knew something I didn’t. Over time, I realized that almost everyone feels that way at some point—they just don’t talk about it.
Just as I found my footing professionally, life became difficult personally. Walking through divorce was one of the hardest seasons of my life. It challenged my faith, my confidence, and my vision for the future. Looking back, I can honestly say that God met me in that valley. He used that season to teach me that my identity was never in my marriage, my career, or my accomplishments; it was always in Him.
Professionally, I also learned that growth often requires leaving what is comfortable. Shortly after making partner at my law firm, I made the unexpected decision to move in-house at Cheniere Energy. It was an incredible opportunity, but it required learning an entirely new way of practicing law and adapting to a completely different environment. Once again, I found myself feeling like the new person in the room. Looking back, that transition stretched me in ways I never anticipated. It broadened my perspective, strengthened my judgment, and gave me invaluable experience that continues to shape how I advise clients and practice law today.
One of the most public challenges came during my service as Commissioner and Vice Chair of the Houston Civil Service Commission. After opening an investigation into potential city ties to human trafficking, I was removed from my position quickly and unexpectedly. While losing that appointment was disappointing, I have never regretted asking difficult questions. That experience reinforced something I believe deeply: integrity is most meaningful when it costs you something.
Perhaps the biggest leap of faith came when I left a successful corporate legal career to start my own law firm. I didn’t have investors, a large team, or an elaborate business plan. I had a spare bedroom, a laptop, and what I believed was a clear word from the Lord that it was time to step out in faith. That decision was both terrifying and exhilarating. Today, what began in that spare bedroom has grown into a thriving practice in a beautiful office, but I never want to forget where it started because those humble beginnings remind me that faith often requires taking the first step before you can see the whole staircase.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
When I founded The Lermon Law Group, I wasn’t simply starting a law firm—I was creating the kind of firm I always wished existed. One that delivers exceptional legal counsel while remaining practical, responsive, and deeply invested in the people behind every business and every case.
At The Lermon Law Group, we focus primarily on employment law because I believe the workplace is where some of life’s most important relationships and biggest challenges intersect. We represent both employers and employees, advise executive leadership, conduct workplace investigations, navigate litigation, and help organizations build legally compliant workplaces where people can thrive. My years in Big Law and as in-house employment counsel for a Fortune 150 company gave me the opportunity to see workplace issues from every perspective, and that experience shapes how we serve every client.
As the firm grew, I realized something important. Many of the challenges businesses were facing weren’t legal problems—at least not yet. They were leadership problems, culture problems, technology problems, operational problems, or human resources problems that, if addressed early, would never become legal disputes at all.
That realization led me to create Dynasty Workplace Solutions.
Dynasty is a workplace consulting firm built around a simple philosophy: the healthiest organizations don’t wait for problems, they build systems that prevent them. We bring together experienced professionals in human resources, AI governance, technology, cybersecurity, organizational strategy, leadership development, investigations, and workforce transformation to help businesses become stronger from the inside out.
Although they are separate companies, they were designed to work together. One helps clients solve legal problems when they arise. The other helps organizations build workplaces where those problems are less likely to happen in the first place. Together, they allow us to support leaders at every stage of their journey—from prevention and strategy to compliance, crisis management, and litigation when necessary.
What sets both organizations apart is that we never lose sight of the people behind the business. Whether I’m counseling a CEO through a difficult employment decision, helping an employee navigate one of the hardest moments of their career, or partnering with a leadership team to transform workplace culture, my goal is always the same: to provide practical solutions with excellence, integrity, and compassion.
If there’s one thing I’m most proud of, it’s the reputation we’ve built. I never wanted clients to hire us simply because we’re knowledgeable. I wanted them to know they could trust us. Every decision we make, every client we serve, and every relationship we build is grounded in that principle.
At the end of the day, our mission is bigger than practicing law or providing consulting services. We exist to help organizations become healthier, stronger, and more effective while helping the people within those organizations flourish. I believe that when businesses lead with integrity and invest in their people, everyone benefits—and that’s the kind of impact I’m committed to making every day.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I truly believe that no meaningful success is ever achieved alone. Every opportunity I’ve been given has been shaped by people who were willing to invest in me, challenge me, encourage me, and pray for me.
First and foremost, all glory belongs to Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of my life, my businesses, and every decision I make. There have been countless moments when I didn’t know what the next step should be, and time after time, He has faithfully opened doors, closed others, and reminded me that success is never about building my own kingdom—it’s about stewarding what He has entrusted to me.
My parents deserve more credit than I could ever give them. We grew up with very little financially, but they gave my sisters and me everything that truly mattered: faith, integrity, humility, and an incredible work ethic. My mom taught me how to write. My dad taught me how to think. Those two gifts became the foundation of my career as a lawyer. Even today, they remain my biggest supporters, praying for me every single day and celebrating every milestone as if it were their own.
I have also been incredibly fortunate to learn from remarkable leaders throughout my legal career. My first boss, Stefanie Moll at Morgan Lewis, saw potential in a young lawyer who was eager but inexperienced. She challenged me relentlessly, expected excellence, and taught me how to think critically rather than simply find answers. The lawyer I am today is, in many ways, a reflection of the standard she set.
At Munsch Hardt, Dan Pipitone and Michael Harvey continued investing in my growth by trusting me with opportunities many young attorneys rarely receive. They put me in jury trials, arbitrations, and high-stakes matters long before I felt ready. Their willingness to give me meaningful responsibility accelerated my development and ultimately helped me become one of the firm’s youngest career-stage partners. Their confidence in me changed the trajectory of my career.
When I joined Cheniere Energy, Erin O’Driscoll gave me the opportunity to transition from private practice into an in-house role and patiently taught me the business side of practicing law. She helped me understand that great legal advice isn’t just legally correct—it’s practical, strategic, and aligned with business objectives. That perspective continues to influence how I serve my clients today.
Outside of the legal profession, I’ve been blessed by mentors who have shaped me spiritually and personally. Debra Collins and Adrian Gantt have continually challenged me to pursue God’s calling with courage, humility, and obedience. They have reminded me that who I become is ultimately more important than what I accomplish.
My best friend, Amber Jones, has been one of the greatest gifts God has placed in my life. Every entrepreneur needs someone who believes in the vision even on the days when you don’t. Amber has celebrated victories, weathered challenges, spoken truth when I needed to hear it, and helped transform ideas into reality. I simply could not build what I’m building without her.
And finally, I am deeply grateful for Denzel Wilson, whose unwavering belief in me has been an incredible source of encouragement. He is a constant support and consistently reminds me to keep thinking bigger than my fears. Having someone who believes in your calling as much as you do is a rare gift.
