Meet Bri Olivares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Olivares.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since as early as 11 years old, I have memories doing my friends’ makeup for fun at school, at sleepovers, for dances, etc. I knew as soon as I graduated High School, that I wanted to go to ‘makeup school’ instead of college. But makeup in 2011 wasn’t what it is in today’s world, so per my parents’ request, I went to college. I ended up going to The University of Texas at San Antonio for Business Computer Information Systems, anything computers was the second next thing that seemed to just come naturally to me. Fast forward- I have my son my junior year of college and go on to work on a computer for a couple of years after college for a business back in Houston. 2017 came and I had saved up enough to take a leap of faith and finally start my beauty business- Bricasso Beauty.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business was a peaceful decision for me because I knew it was my passion and I didn’t think I could go wrong with following that in a way that allows me to make a good living from it, but I know with starting any business, it isn’t easy at the start of the transition. It takes time to see the fruition of your efforts for sure. But I tend to think those types of times build the best character and bring a lot of growth, if you deal with it in the most positive way possible… but let’s just say God definitely knew what he was doing and gave me my son, my biggest motivator, right when he knew I needed him!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own a beauty business called Bricasso Beauty. Although I started off in 2017 only offering makeup, I soon expanded my skill set to specialize in Microblading, now even offering Microblading Certification Courses as an instructor. One of the things that makes me most proud in this line of business is how many women I’ve been able to contribute to their feeling not only more confident and comfortable with their own physical features, but also confident and comfortable when working with me, whether it be on location makeup somewhere, in an instruction course with me or in my beauty lounge for an appointment. I try to take every opportunity to spread love and laughter to all those I get to work with.

I’ve been told I have a ‘pretty punny’ personality, which if any potential client happens to come across even one of my personal Instagram account captions, they will catch a glimpse of.

Although that seems irrelevant to the beauty industry, I believe showing that side of me has helped my naturally shy self create an environment where not only can I be myself and have easy conversations with 1 on 1 client appointments that last hours, but the clients can feel that same comfortability.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think one of the qualities that is most important in my journey to my ‘ideal success’ is staying true to myself and what God has instilled in my heart to be, rather than conforming to anything in the world. I believe everyone has their own purpose and as long as I’m doing at least one thing everyday to grow in a direction that supports that, in whatever way that may be, I am guaranteed to progress in the right way.

The inspiration behind choosing ‘Bricasso Beauty’ as my business name was actually the Beauty I found in all the different unique faces Picasso was known to paint. I loved how even if they were all different looking, they were all still considered a work of art. So for me, I think being in a position to be encouraging for other women to see the beauty in embracing their own features or uniqueness, as their own beautiful work of art, makes things more of fulfilling my purpose and passion I feel, rather than a job I have.

I feel very fortunate to have found that in life.
