Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Chavez.
Brian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started the company back in January 2013. Before starting my own business, I was working for a company that does exactly what I do. In the beginning, it was a little slow, but we grew with every year. Today I have three to four employees with possibilities to branch off into multiple crews.
The basic outlook of the work I do is, giving kids a safe place to play on. Whether it’s an existing playground area that has mulch and is now transitioning to our rubber product, or they might start everything from scratch: new playground equipment and rubber surfacing.
Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles, in the beginning, was making sure we had enough work for the year to keep the employees. Having enough materials was also a struggle to keep up with.
Tell us more about the business.
Abc Surfacing LLC is a Professional safety surfacing installer. We not only specialize in rubber surfacing, but we also install synthetic grass turf. In addition to safety surfacing, we also install shade structures and playground equipment. What I am most proud of is being able to say “I installed that playground “all across the country. We’ve been as far as Portland, Oregon, Brooklyn, New York, Florida keys etc.
What sets us apart is the quality of work. We usually work with many contractors in the USA and a lot of times. We are hired to fix a playground another company didn’t install correctly.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think within the next five to ten years, I see myself having multiple crews going simultaneously. Once more people figure out who and what we are, there’s no reason we won’t expand and be where we want to be.
