Meet Brian Cohen of Texas Bar Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Cohen.

Brian Cohen

Hi Brian, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up on Strong Island, New York in a time where Nightlife ruled entertainment. No cell phones, Instagram or selfies. I was in college at age 18 picked up a club flyer on the floor that said hiring bartenders. I asked my friend/classmate to come with me as we both wanted to bartend. Over 300 people showed up to this casting call. My friend said forget it, how are we going to compete with these hot girls and 300 people? I looked at him and said, ”We are getting this job”. My time came, and I would not take no for an answer. I told the guy hiring, I was ready to do whatever it took for this position. He said I love your energy. He hired me under the condition I would wake up early 4 days a week and pass out flyers 5 AM- 8 AM at local colleges just for the bartending job. I said yes, with one condition: you hire my friend too. We both got hired. The one-night-a-week bartending gig made me about $70 a week, and the promoting was unpaid. This was the first step of building my Nightlife Empire. I wanted it more than anyone. You must believe in yourself.

One thing led to another, and I ended up finding my calling is a Club Promoter in New York. Now, Club Promoter can mean the kid handing cards out in Vegas for $15 an hour or the level I grew into which was splitting 50% of the door and 50% of the bar with the club owner on nights I did events. No liability, no rent, my one job was to pack the club. At a young age, I made big money and found my calling.

Years went by, and I moved down to Florida, became a General Manager, and figured out how the operation part worked. Then, still at a very young age, a Club Owner.

Since then, I have been involved with on an ownership, management, consultant, or promotion level to over 300 Nightclubs & Bars in over 40 North American Cities. I have won awards, received much media, and have had A-List Celebrities attend my parties not because they were paid but because I put on a hot party.

On Valentine’s Day 2020, I opened my masterpiece venue called Mob Bar in Downtown Los Angeles. 30 Days later, it was closed down due to Covid 19 Pandemic. Knowing the way California politics work, I knew I was in for a long shutdown, which I sadly properly predicted.

Having 19 venues shut down in Los Angeles, I focused on my childhood hobby, which I made a business, buying and flipping Sports Cards. Boss Sports Cards was ignited, but I needed something else to do. Texas Bar Group was formed, and I opened up Mob Bar, Maze Nightclub, Godfather Hookah & Mob Beach in Downtown Galveston, which are all still open today 3 years later. Another Country Rock Bar called Moonshine Cowgirls is opening this Fall on 6th Street in Texas City. I also went back to LA and opened another Mob Bar and other venues.

Has it been easy? NO!!! Knock me down & I get up. Knock me down 100 times, and I will get up 100 times and fight!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I cannot think of an industry with more struggles and challenges than the Nightlife Industry. I have been on top and with a blink of an eye, lost everything. In my career, I have experienced a terrorist attack, Hurricanes, Snowstorms, Tropical Storms, Wildfires, An Economic crisis, & a Pandemic. These disasters are just extras to your regular potential Nightlife issues such as Theft, Underage Drinking, General Liability, overpouring, violence, competition, and 100 other things.

When you get knocked down, get up and fight. If you get knocked down 100 times keep getting up until you knock what’s in your way to succeed out. Never give up!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Texas Bar Group is a Hospitality & Real Estate Ownership Group. We find undervalued Hospitality Real Estate & Leases that can make unheard of returns. Some of the brands owned by Texas Bar Group are: Mob Bar, Moonshine Cowgirls, Godfather Hookah, Maze Nightclub, Mob Beach, and more.

We work with investors to locate and partner on projects.

I predicted Florida’s rise back in 2003. Now Florida is untouchable as Liquor Licenses range average nearly $500,000. My first Florida Bar I purchased the license for $60,000 in 2004, and now it is worth $400,000. The condo I purchased on Bayshore Blvd in Tampa almost tripled in value. Texas is the next State to blow up with Real Estate, Nightclubs & Bars, and other businesses. Buy now before it turns untouchable for all but the very wealthy.

Texas Bar Group has the experience and knowledge to locate these deals and turn them profitable.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
There is nothing better than supporting small businesses. Supporting small businesses by not just following them on social media but purchasing tickets to shows or popping in for a drink is the best. We look forward to meeting all of our future customers. We also love collaborations with local media, charities, & fundraisers. We are open-minded to look at any ideas!
