Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Edwards Jr..
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I feel like I’ve been creating for as long I can remember. Sketching little ideas in my school notebooks or customizing my own clothes and what not but, those things always took a backseat to sports. When I went to college I got really into creating music, writing and producing. From there, I started to throw myself into every creative discipline that peaked my interest. Being a Artist and Creating has given me a sense of purpose when I reflect on my life.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m a photographer. Photography is one of the most powerful art forms because you have the ability to freeze time. We can never get that moment back but it’s stamped in history, in our memories and in our hearts forever because of a single shot. The moments attached to images evoke an emotion that connects us all. These images tell the story of the times, people & places that were before us and exist amongst us its beautiful. When people look at my work I want them to feel something! Of course I want it to be aesthetically pleasing but, Ultimately I want them to feel something that moves them on an emotional level.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
If I could give a piece of advice to other artists, I would say fall in love with your craft. Learn everything there is to know about your discipline. Don’t be afraid to ask people more successful than you for help or advice. Stay resilient. Learn and enjoy the process; condition yourself for sustainability in your craft. One photo, one song, or one video can change your whole life in an instant but you have to love everything about what you do to keep you there and to ensure more success. Fall in Love with your art.
