Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had an eye for video and filming since I was a kid. In 5th grade, I knew I wanted to be a director. My dad was a director for theater across Houston, but I went a different route into filming and editing. My dad always put the idea in me to be whatever I want but to be the best whatever I do. I was self-taught and had the motivation to become the best . its funny I’ve always told my best friend Alex ” next year I’m going to be famous off being video producer” and I told him that every year for six years straight. My story begins eight years ago in 2012 when I made my first buck producing videos for clubs, bars, television stations and even rappers anything I can do to make some money. Being creative with my video was my niche so for a long time, I been word of mouth and I still am. Fast forward toward the end of 2012.
In September, I started to work with one of the top photographer in Texas. I haven’t work with anyone as serious as he was so it was exciting. He wanted to give me ton clients to do videos for. When the work began it was simple, a video here a video there until the photographer asked me if I can take on more work and the time it would take me to finish the work. Of course, I said yes I was ambitious and hungry to be in this industry so he booked tons of wedding clients for me. This is a videographer ‘s dream, I thought. But everything has its breaking points. One wedding after another started to get late than that “day” happened. My Harddrive in my computer has crashed and the next day my external harddrive has crashed. I have lost over six weddings, 2 of my celebrity client’s videos and a couple of other video. All was lost in my mind, I went into a major depression and stopped contacting people, answering phone calls and talking to everyone. I cut myself off from the world. I was making major rookie mistakes, I never put money aside for a problem this, I got a side job to make up money to pay for the harddrive to get recovered. Right before this madness I got arrested for the first time and only in my life. So I was dealing with court fees and harddrive recovery fees 2013 started to become the roughest year of my life. It soon blowed over and I got all the footage recovered.
Now I had to make a come up. In 2014 I officially got out of wedding and start taking on Reality Show pilot projects and other creative videos. I took a major loss in 2013 and with cutting connection with everyone, So it was hard to build back clientele. I spent years trying to make a comeback working with people that has pilot ideas. Trying to be on the road to riches which gave me a lot of experience self-producing a reality shows but it wasted a lot of my time and money. In 2016, I started to take my craft more seriously. I developed a lot of video companies, but I could never stuck with a single company name until I was just known as Brian Williams the video guys. I got into doing corporate shooting and few short films, which brings us in 2019, I feel like I finally put a small foot in this industry, being known for my creativity and my efficient in editing.
Those who had the pleasure of doing an editing session with me knows that I’m one of the faster editors you will meet. I don’t exactly know how many videos I made in my life, but online I have over 200 videos I’ve posted. I worked with tons of people and I absolutely love what I do and I learned the most important thing to cherish is “Time ” there is never enough time in the day! I’m on a journey to be the best at being who I am and what I am. I have always taught people to be better than me and to know their worth. I learned from all my failure and I had ALOT of failures, but I got better and better and mentally I know myself and how my mind works and most importantly I know my limits. In my heart I will always be a producer until I can live my childhood dream and become a director.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was everything but smooth, there are time that work really felt like work to where I hate doing it . to reduce obstacles in my life, I have cut off any tied to things that will waste my time. I gave up on dating and being in a relationship, it just made no sense for someone to waste your time. I cut off most of my friends because they have their own problems and need help. I cut off any drama I have in my life . and even with doing all of that Life will continue to hit you with another curveball. Struggles with things from. Lost footage. Mad clients. non paying clients, lawsuits, being robbed, random depression, etc. I road I drove on was not smooth it had a lot of potholes in it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Producedbybrianwilliams story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a videographer and video editor. I specialize in video produced, I’m known produced any style of content creatively and efficiently. Being a creative fast producing one-man-band sets me apart from any other company out there. I’m proud that I value my client’s production more than they do, I strive to make the best production I can.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Both good luck and bad luck played a role because you can’t have the good without the bad. But I’m just lucky I’m still alive and filming. But what I am lucky about is the clients I have, because I would be nowhere without them.
