Today we’d like to introduce you to Brion Robinson.
Hi Brion, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m from Tulsa, OK, where I was raised and Sam Houston State university brought me to Texas where I received my degree in Communication Studies. After college, I had my first corporate job working with ATT where I just knew I would thrive. In 2018, I was unhappy at a corporate job with little purpose and no drive. Shortly thereafter, I looked into massage school as a hobby an potential career, but left the idea as quickly as it came. In 2019, I decided to resign from my corporate position and see where life took me. I enrolled at Phoenix School of Massage within 2 months of the resignation and began working towards my massage therapy license. Shortly thereafter, I had a job at the Houston Ayurveda Center as a front desk and intern therapist. It was everything i dreamed of, as I had an interest in Ayurveda and herbalism from college. Never did I imagine that massage could take me to the places and meet the people that I’ve met thus far.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. Tuition from school was a pain, but work-study was a blessing. Also, finding time to be a full time studen and full time employee was difficult. Figuring out what niche I’d like rather than what people created for me was difficult. Learning what/who has my best interest. Adjusting to entrepreneurship has been a doozy, but in has its victory laps and a milestone of mistakes!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wholistic Embrace?
Therapeutic touch is a need in the tech-savvy era. So often are we deprived of the simplicity of touch, that I felt the need to outwardly open clients up to it. Specifically, POC community as we feel that massage is a luxury. Massage therapy is a necessity for overall wellness and long-term quality of life. It’s the simplicity of treating yourself and your body’s health to staying youthful as we all desperately try to maintain!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Having a trade is imperative. This isn’t to go against those with degrees, but having my license allowed me to still work as a medical therapist, work virtually and mainly be creative with how to work with clients via Zoom.
