Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Ong.
Hi Britney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Brits Batch when I was 16 years old. I grew up in the kitchen with my mom. I played club volleyball for all my life. It was getting expensive and my mom told me to get a job. It started off as a baking fundraiser, turned into a full-blown business. I was able to fund my whole club career through baking. I was able to earn a D1 scholarship and pursue my dreams of playing college volleyball. When I went to college, I put baking on the back burner. When I was graduating college. I had no idea what I was gonna do, but I had faith that God was going to work it out. When I finally trusted God, that was when I was given the opportunity to open the bakery. My testimony is not a short one, but it has made me who I am today. I knew that when I was gonna open the bakery that I wanted it to be more than just a food business. I want it to be a space where people feel welcomed, loved and seen. Fast-forward, a year and a half later, we finally got to open our doors in March 2025. Baking has always been a part of my life, but food, family, and hospitality and caring for others is who I am. I am so blessed that that I got the opportunity to create a space that is a reflection of the love I grew up with.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. The struggles that I have had along the way, is the learning curve. As much as you prepare, when push comes to shove everything always comes out a little bit different than you imagined. So learning to navigate in real time when you are juggling a lot can be difficult. But luckily, I have a great support system around me. It is not about being perfect, but it is about your intention in your heart and with that we can never go wrong.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Brit’s Batch?
My business is a Faith based business. We are known for our homemade cookies and cupcakes. We use high-quality ingredients and the best of the best. We are also known for our strong Vietnamese coffee. Not only do we take integrity on our ingredients in our coffee, what sets us apart, is that it is more than just a transaction to us. We take pride in making our customers feel more than a sale. We truly care about everyone who walks in the door and want them to experience the same type of love and care that is poured into the things that we make. We take pride in the fact that little moments in life in little interactions can have an impact on someone’s day or life. Kindness nowadays sometimes it’s hard to come by so always going the extra mile, and always being kind to the people that walk in is something that we are big on.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love best about our city is the diversity it offers. Every business every city every place you drive, you can meet people from different walks of life everywhere. There is power in places where people come from different backgrounds. It’s beautiful. The only thing I have to complain about the city is the traffic.
