Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany O’Neal.
Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Sure, thank you! My name is Brittany, often referred to as BK. My story begins roughly around 2008 or so. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures, whether I was the subject or the photographer. Many would say that throughout high school and college I was always the friend who had every single picture (yes, even the ones most people would delete). As that phase of my life came to an end, I found myself always reminiscing and trying to re-create moments that were then only memories. I began to appreciate photos even more and grew to believe that a moment in time can never be duplicated, but it can be saved and cherished forever.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If I’m being honest, this journey for me has presented it’s share obstacles. Aside from the regular struggles of entrepreneurship, Covid-19 was one that I could have never prepared for. Being in one of the largest cities, this pandemic introduced scheduling conflicts, limited studio availability, cancelled event opportunities and more. This is when I began to pause and take a look around. I believe that not all photography is displayed as happy butterflies and it should not be biased, but rather raw, true, authentic and real. Why? Because time will continue to go on and these moments will one day be history and what better way to relive a moment than with a photograph. This is where I began to focus on the positive impact. I took advantage of the world slowing down to dig a little deeper, do more research, envision different goals, create a blueprint, establish a name, polish my website and join the social media realm. Although I’m still learning and evolving, this approach allowed me to learn and grow at my own pace in areas of not only entrepreneurship, but also photography.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the sole lifestyle, portrait and studio photographer for B’ The Image Photography. I aim to capture the essence of every special moment while encouraging you to simply “B” the image. Furthermore, my goal is to provide you with timeless portraits that not only come to life, but also live on forever to pause your most cherished memories. One of the biggest influences behind B’ The Image are the clients. B’ The Image is not for every client and every client is not for B’ The Image. That’s simply the best part. I take so much pride and joy in my clients. For me, getting booked is more than locking in a session. It’s the excitement I feel knowing someone is placing their vision in my hands. It’s the rush I get when they are just as passionate about their vision as I am. With that, I get to do what I love most and get creative beyond the imagination. However, not all clients have a vision and that’s perfectly fine as well. This gives me an even wider range of creative freedom to explore. This is also where learning my clients plays a major part of the process. I find so much joy in my passion, but there is no prouder moment for me than when my clients see their vision come to life and when they absolutely love their portraits. So much so that I see them surfacing in the blogs online, displayed at their events, or hanging in their homes. This is why I do what I do. In an industry that’s highly saturated, I believe that it’s very important to find your niche and stand apart. One of the ways that I feel sets me apart, is my love for art. The ability to live in the “gray” and not the “black and white.” The freedom. There is no right or wrong. There is no rule book. There’s limitless flexibility and no boundaries. I encourage my clients to feel the same when in front of the lens. Be bold. Be beautiful. Be boundless. B’ The Image.
How do you think about happiness?
Family, friends and art – whether music, nature, painting, biology or photography – make me happy. Art is a form of therapy for me. It’s the element I could live in forever. I feel as though I am able to be free. I am in a place where the sky is not even the limit. There’s no better place to be than that. When I’m not in my element, I enjoy spending time with those that mean the most. Creating more memories and soaking in all that life has to offer with family and friends is truly priceless. Special thank you to my husband (Avery), mother (Tonja), best friend (Dominique) and sister-in-law (Taryn). They have been some of my biggest supporters and I am so thankful for the roles that they have played in this journey. B’ The Image Photography is continuously growing and I am beyond excited to share my passion with the world.
