Meet Brock Caron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brock Caron.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was raised in Austin TX, my dad was an underground comic book illustrator and influenced me heavily in going into the field of visual art.

After some dabbling in photojournalism, graffiti, and other possibly creative outlets, I turned back to drawing and illustration. I went to Texas State University and got my BFA.

Please tell us about your art.
I do a lot of pen and ink illustrations as well as typographic based art.

I would want people to look at my work as a way to see beauty and potential in old barns and shacks in how they look now, and not look at them as what they can become if they tear them down. I have a similar nostalgic view with my drawings of subjects such as classic county music, honky-tonks, juke joints, and small southern restaurants. There is a lot of tearing down and rebuilding around Texas and I think we need to step back and look at our decisions more wisely.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think every artist has his or her own challenges.m and they all vary. My personal challenge currently is getting to a point of being a full-time artist while still having to work a full-time job and make art every other waking moment I have.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Most of my work can be found on my website www.brockcaronart.com or my Instagram @brockcaronart
I hope to expand to Texas galleries very soon.
