Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Angelle.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bryan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am also known as “Kadoma”, a screen name I used to discuss & trade sneakers with a network of friends I made from all over the world in the early 2000’s.
In early 2004, I founded the Sneaker Summit which became “the BIGGEST sneaker convention in the country” as stated by Fuse, & one of “50 Moments That Changed Sneaker Culture Forever” by COMPLEX. I also spent time blogging for Freshness Mag & Sneaker News as part of the Complex Magazine Network, & for years I was featured on local sports radio breaking down the latest news in sneaker culture on & off the court with my popular “Sneak of the Week” segment. I have consulted & directed design for several household brand names in the field of sneakers & fashion. All of which led to the Sneaker Summit Storefront opening in 2016.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Over the years we grew our Sneaker Summit event from a dozen or so people in a coffee shop to sports bars to 5,000 attendees in 80,000 square foot exhibit halls. The Sneaker Summit was a passion project that grew into a monster. There were definitely some learning experiences along the way since we weren’t built off of a traditional business plan.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sneaker Summit – what should we know?
The Sneaker Summit Storefront aims to provide a fun and safe place to celebrate sneaker culture every day of the year. We are a consignment store that specializes in everything from rare and vintage footwear to the latest trending fashions.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’ve met many great lifelong friends along the way, including my mentor Bun B of UGK, our General Manager Adrian Sanchez who I’ve known from our very first event, and our Assistant Manager Tausha Sanders who left her position at Karmaloop in Boston to work for us.
