Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Williams.
Bryan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Just six short years ago, I was a single bachelor, father of one, and in no rush to “settle down” or get married. I knew that it was something I wanted to do eventually but wanted to let it happen in it’s own timing. Then to my surprise, the woman that I was admiring from a far comments on a picture that I posted on Instagram. I took that as a sign to slide in her DM’s. Little did I know, when I took that leap of faith, that I would end up falling in love with this woman who lived in a different state. After proposing, I made the choice to leave the State of Louisiana and relocate to Houston, Texas to be where she was. That’s when this journey began. My wife, Courtney, started sharing our journey of blended family life and marriage in a blog that she started and now our story is being followed by people all over the world. Along with the audience came nation-wide brands reaching out to us to partner with them in bringing brand awareness to their products and/or services. Our plan is to venture outside of solely family blogging and include a podcast, books, conferences, and more. When I graduated from Grambling State University in 2010, blogging/vlogging was not how I planned to use my communications degree, but I’m grateful for the platform to inspire other husbands and fathers to always put family first.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road in the beginning. While my wife is more of an open book, I’m more of a private person. So the thought of sharing my private life with strangers was a huge struggle for me. Believe it, or not, I wasn’t always a fan of taking pictures, especially the amount of pictures that comes with having a family blog. This was often a source of tension in my household when we first started this journey but I’m grateful the Lord worked on me in that area and showed me that our family is bigger than us and my personal feelings. He put me on this exact journey for His glory and to help others along the way!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My wife and I have a family blog where we share our journey from blended family life, marriage, raising kids, and everything in between with people all over the world. We pride ourselves on sharing very candidly and transparently in the midst of this “perfect” social media world. I am most proud that our blog has drawn the attention of nation-wide brands and retailers and has turned into a big source of income for the “family that matches.”
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
With our business being mainly being done online, it can be done from anywhere. But to answer your question, Houston’s large market offers opportunities to partner with local businesses that are not only successful but thriving. It just comes down to networking and pitching your services to those businesses. With the amount of bloggers in the city of Houston, whether it’s family, food, fashion, etc., the opportunities to network and collab are endless.
