Meet Burton Wolfe and Lawrence Wong of World Theater in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Burton Wolfe, Lawrence Wong.

Burton, WORLD THEATER Artistic and Executive Director, began his interest in International Culture as the National Director of Productions and Events for UNICEF (throughout the USA) working with Audrey Hepburn, Julio Iglesias and others; raising funds for worldwide children. He is an author of the WORLD THEATER original bilingual musicals.

World THEATER cultural exchanges have utilized Acrobats from China and Hip Hop dancers from Houston in the same production as well as other mixed cultural casts of performers – bringing shows to the Greater Houston audiences and to overseas nations. The Houston Area is 2nd to New York City in diversity – so they at World Theater believe that they are fulfilling an important mission by bridging both culture and commerce for their diverse citizenry.

Lawrence, WORLD THEATER Producer and Director of Operations, first began as Burton’s business partner when he helped bring the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to America during ASIAFEST performances; (ASIAFEST was acknowledged by President Ronald Reagan as “an unprecedented opportunity to broaden and deepen the many cultural and economic ties between Asia and America.”).

Lawrence has also translated Burton’s original musicals’ dialogue and lyrics into Mandarin Chinese for Burton Wolfe’s productions “Kung Fu Hero,” “Metropolis” and other shows that have been performed here in Houston and Dallas, Toronto Canada, New York City, Florida, and in the cities of Beijing, Shenzhen and other major cities within China.

WORLD THEATER includes larger and smaller auditorium venues and classrooms that serve its thousands of bilingual and multi-cultural patrons; a dynamic and meaningful bridge to global culture & commerce.

Has it been a smooth road?
Within its recent two years of existence in Katy, WORLD THEATER social media outreach, as well as newspaper and magazine feature stories, have all contributed to building a World Theater patron base. Our audiences are growing and people are talking; but time and patience are part of the process!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Creativity, Community, Diversity and Theater Arts Global Partnerships serve our local and international audiences. WORLD THEATER is proud to produce and present works that reflect positive values and heart felt content; so needed today in a world that often times features violence and avarice. The World Theater mission is to be a bridge to peace and brotherhood.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Statistics show that the Greater Houston area is second to New York City in diversity. This illustrates that Houston is an open and welcoming demographic. WORLD THEATER leaders, Burton Wolfe and Lawrence Wong, believe that a “commitment to excellence in serving others, is the key to success for any business…”
