Hi Camille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My husband and I had contrasting upbringings in different corners of our state. He hailed from Bridge City, TX, near the Texas/Louisiana border, while I called Laredo, TX, my hometown, situated along the Texas/Mexico border.
Despite the hundreds of miles between us and our cultural differences, we were raised to appreciate good food and enjoy life’s simple pleasures, such as a snow cone on a hot summer day. We often had conversations about our respective childhoods, reminiscing about cherished memories. Our dialogues frequently circled back to those carefree afternoons spent with friends at the local snow cone stand. Over time, we dreamt of creating a place of our own where neighbors and friends could gather, fostering a sense of togetherness while enjoying a sweet treat.
It was the arrival of our daughter that served as an awakening. We embraced the notion that there is no better moment than the present to pursue our dreams. And just like that, Katy Cones transformed from a mere concept into a resounding reality.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Yes and no. We’ve been blessed by some incredible mentors in our lives who have selflessly guided and supported both my husband and me.
However, being a new parent, coupled with the demands of a full-time job and the daunting task of launching a new business, I’ve found myself walking a tightrope between responsibilities. Balancing it all has been a challenge, stretching me to my limits and testing my resilience.
In the difficult moments and late nights, I have to remind myself that we are not simply juggling tasks; we are crafting a life filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Spending quality time with my husband and daughter. That’s the ultimate gift. When I stop for a minute to think why, I land on the fact that every day is different. Time is zooming past me so quickly, and the moments that I get to conscientiously be present are my true treasures.
Being able to make someone happy, even if for only a few minutes while they enjoy a snow cone brings me joy. I love meeting new people and getting to know our customers. It makes me happy to see familiar faces and build community among our Houston area snow cone lovers!
