Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced recently was experiencing homelessness for a while. During that time, I found out my girlfriend was pregnant, and as we were already struggling, things got even worse—our car was stolen. Inside it was everything I owned—my designer clothes, Xbox, YouTube equipment, and, most importantly, all my music gear—gone in an instant, like it was nothing. At that point, I felt completely defeated, like giving up on life was my only option.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Gupa, an artist from Houston who turns pain into music. My sound blends indie rock, alternative, and post-punk, weaving raw emotion into every lyric and melody. My music is more than just sound—it’s a reflection of heartbreak, struggle, and survival.

What sets me apart is that every song comes from a real place. I don’t just make music; I live it. I’ve felt lost, broken, and forgotten, and I know what it’s like to feel like there’s no way out. But even in my darkest moments, I found a voice, a way to turn my pain into something meaningful.

I create for those who feel like no one understands them, for those who need a reason to keep going. My music isn’t just about heartbreak—it’s about resilience, about finding beauty in the chaos. That’s what Gupa is.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that pain can either break you or build you—it’s all in how you use it. There were moments when I felt like giving up, when everything I had was taken from me, and I thought I had nothing left. But I realized that as long as I had my voice, I still had something.

I’ve learned that no matter how bad things get, you have to keep moving forward. You have to take your pain and turn it into something meaningful, whether that’s music, art, or just another day of pushing through. Struggle doesn’t define you—how you rise from it does.
