Fifth Street Gourmet Popsicles and Treats is more than just a business; it’s the realization of a dream that began five years ago. Inspired by my roots in Michoacán, Mexico—a place where popsicles are cherished as a refreshing and beloved snack—I set out to create something truly special. I wanted to bring a piece of that tradition to Bellaire and the greater Houston area, sharing the flavors and passion that have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Our shop focuses on crafting gourmet popsicles and treats using only real, natural ingredients. From fruity and refreshing flavors to creamy and indulgent options, each creation is made with love and care. Beyond offering a sweet escape, we’ve grown to become a part of our community, whether it’s welcoming customers to our shop or catering private events and celebrations.
Seeing the happiness that a simple slice of sweetness can bring to someone’s day has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. It’s a privilege to share not only my creations but also a piece of my culture with our wonderful customers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, especially when it comes to economic factors. As a small business, navigating financial hurdles has been one of the toughest parts of our growth. Additionally, getting the word out about our popsicles has been a challenge in itself. Competing with larger businesses while building brand recognition takes time and effort, and it’s something we’ve been working on step by step.
Despite these obstacles, we’ve been committed to spreading the word about Fifth Street Gourmet Popsicles. Hosting a variety of events and participating in local farmers’ markets has allowed us to connect with our community and share our treats with more people. It’s been a gradual process, but we’re proud of the progress we’ve made.
Every challenge has taught us something valuable, and we remain dedicated to making our vision a success. It’s a journey of persistence, creativity, and passion, and we’re grateful for every step forward.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Taking a risk has been a significant part of my journey, and one of the biggest risks I’ve taken was deciding to focus more on Fifth Street Gourmet Popsicles, a dream I’ve had since I can remember. Before this, I worked at a jewelry store for many years, and not too long ago, I became a co-owner of MJ Jewelers of Bellaire with my partner. Managing two businesses has been incredibly challenging, and there are moments when it feels like I’m neglecting the jewelry business—a business I’ve also poured so much effort into.
There have been tough times, including financial strains that have even made it difficult to meet personal obligations, like payments on my home. However, despite the challenges, I remain deeply committed to this dream. The popsicle shop is a reflection of my passion and my belief in offering something truly special—treats that are delicious, fresh, and healthy.
Taking this leap has taught me resilience and the importance of staying true to my vision. It’s not easy, but I believe in the potential of this business and the joy it can bring to people. Risks can be daunting, but they’re also necessary when you’re chasing a dream, and I’m confident that this journey will continue to be worth it.
