Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Carrington.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since our chat with Voyage Houston last Summer, we’ve had a lot of great things happen for us. My passion for vintage, which the company was created from, is quickly evolving. With the business flourishing, we’ve outgrown our studio. I’m thrilled to announce we will soon be moving the company to Colorado to further expand our on-the-ground market-base and presence outside of the Houston area. We’re building a custom Showroom for a local experience that will add to our online business. During this past year, we continued to have our shop-in-shop at an antique store in The Heights, transforming the space into a small boutique-like setting. Participating in local pop-ups and events around the city offered us great exposure in the Houston area as we met so many wonderful people along the way. Sales through our company website, www.thevintagelabel.com, and Instagram continued to grow while we built our clientele locally.
While we pride ourselves on an exemplary personalized shopping experience, we’ve also broadened the consignment segment of our business, specializing in consigning current designer, luxury fashions and accessories. From the beginning through today, my sister’s advice to “Follow your passion, live your dream! Do what you love most!” still resonates with me! We both look forward to our voyage to the Mile-High City in Colorado as we continue to share our love of vintage in Houston, Denver, and beyond!
Has it been a smooth road?This past year has been a growth year for us. It’s amazing and rewarding to run a business and be hands-on. The effort and dedication it takes to own our own business, make it grow, and be successful is a huge commitment and well worth every minute we put in! Behind the glamour of owning our own company is a lot of hard work, and long hours as we handle all aspects of the business. This past year has truly been a defining year for us as individuals and as business partners. Our roles have intensified. I am on the go more and more, meeting clients, curating more, photographing all of the inventory for our website and keeping up with sales while my sister and business partner, Rebecca, keeps up with the back-end of the business. It’s a family affair and a juggling act!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Vintage Label – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.After years of collecting luxury vintage clothing, my passion became our company. I’m proud of what we’ve created & accomplished thus far. I continue to curate more, adding to the collection and sharing my love of luxury vintage. As more attention is given to being “green” and having a smaller footprint, our business in vintage clothing fits in very well with this mindset. Fashion is ever-changing and our business of bringing designer vintage clothing into people’s modern-day wardrobes is something we specialize in. A personal shopping appointment with us allows for a memorable, custom experience.
From ballrooms and gala events to everyday-wear and casual weekends, we have luxurious vintage pieces for all occasions. Unique and rare pieces set us apart as we offer a fabulous selection of high-end designer fashion and accessories.
While we meet more and more people, we find they want to better organize their homes, want to clean out their closets, are downsizing, or just want a change of pace with their wardrobe. This has given us the opportunity to expand our consignment division. It’s not always about quantity, but it is always about quality. It’s also about convenience for many of our clients who love the custom shopping experience we offer and have become known for.
