Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Craig.
Casey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a fine art portrait photographer located in Conroe, Texas. I take pride in each photograph and treat it as if it were my own family on the other side of the lens. I find it important to know each of my clients and I would love to tell you a little about myself!
I picked up my first camera at the age of 12, a Canon film camera, which I still own and pick up on occasion. I used to take it out to my great-grandmother’s property and photograph anything that was in front of me. My mother still has my first print, an old wagon wheel, framed & hanging in her home.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Shortly after, I married the love of my life, and we started our family. We have two girls, my step-daughter who is 14, and her little sister, who is just shy of four years old. They certainly keep this mama on her toes!
I recently made the difficult decision to leave my full-time job to make photography my career. It was a terrifying move, but something I felt so necessary to do! I need that time to be able to give my clients the service they deserve and to be at home more with my girls. It has been absolutely wonderful so far! Photography is what makes me tick, and gets me going every single day. Photographs that are taken will be passed down for generations to come, and I love that I can provide that for my clients.
People describe my style as emotional & warm and I couldn’t agree more. I love seeing a teardrop on the other side of my lens or a big smile because their baby is laughing with a deep belly laugh. I enjoy getting people to giggle and show their true selves; to be able to capture that is a magic I could never describe. I absolutely love what I do, and am so blessed that this is now my career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha! NO! If it were easy, everyone would do it, right? But would I change it? Absolutely not.
I have been behind the lens for 10+ years. The hardest part is standing out in your market. This is why I try to offer my clients customer service that is absolutely out of this world.
Elated Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Elated Photography was officially born in 2016. I wanted a name that would describe how people would feel after a session with me. I want people to LOVE their photographs, hang them all over their homes, share with their friends, and most importantly, PRINT THEM so they can be passed down from generation to generation.
I specialize in fine art family portraiture, newborn and maternity photography. I love watching my client’s families grow!
I am proud that I have stuck with my passion. It is so easy to give up, to give in and just do the mundane day-to-day. I did that for years, but once I finally realized where my heart was, it was easy to cast the others aside and jump head first into this business.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’d have to say the proudest moment was when I found a studio space to work out of. I’ve worked out of my home for years, but when we got about twenty inches of water in our home during Hurricane Harvey, I had to find another space, and quickly. In February of 2018, I found my studio space in downtown Conroe. It has been an absolute blessing.

Casey is great! Super fun to work with. She takes her time and get to know the family. She will even sing your 1 yr old’s favorite song with you. 😉
