Meet Cassandra Johnson of Portraitefx By CMJ Photography in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Johnson.

Cassandra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started off as being a model instructor at Barbizon School for Modeling. I loved teaching the classes but I was more intrigued with the Photography side of it. I realized that Photography captured beauty but also told stories, froze time and great memories all together. I decided that I wanted to be a photographer but I wasn’t too interested in the film nor the dark room.

Once they came out with digital, I felt like that was my opportunity. It still took a while because I didn’t have a point and shoot camera. I had to actually learn settings and lightings and all of that good stuff, besides posing and coming up with concepts. Well. 16 yrs later, I own a small photography studio in Katy Texas. I love every minute of it.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not. The challenges are people take the craft of photography for granted. They think that all photographers do is come and snap images. You have to have an eye and passion for photography and create stories.

Although we have a retail presence, Our company is still mobile. We go out on location and take pictures as well as utilize the studio. We have something for everyone. We like to create the scene and give the customer their tailored photoshoot specifically for them. We specialize in most areas.

Families, Graduating Seniors, Infants, Weddings, and events. We are most proud about the company is that it allows everyone to get that photo shoot experience without breaking the bank. We are known for our affordable Senior Portraits being unique and as well as great quality. What sets us aside is the fact that we understand listen to the needs of our customers. We realize that people are not interested in what we are selling until they know what you can do for them. So we pride ourselves with quality customer service.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity the best about our city. The traffic is what I like the least. It shouldn’t take 15 mins to run to the corner store.
