Meet Cecile Mengue of Go Blue for Clean Water in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecile Mengue.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cecile. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Cameroon West African and moved to the united state at the age of 13. Interested in serving people, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northwestern State University. Although all paths lead to law, I had an undeniable passion to promoting and advancing Africa through business and trade. After studying Project Management for that purpose, I began hosting events that fostered international businesses relationships between African and The rest of the world. My direction changed completely when I revisited her native country, Cameroon 15 years since she moving to the United State with my mother. During her trip, I was forced to face a struggle she remembers very well as a little girl. I couldn’t believe that people were still living without access to clean water in this day and age.

Motivated to take action, I did my research and relished that the water crisis was far bigger problem than what she saw in her small little village. So she decided to do something about it. With my event planning background, I started organizing fundraiser event to help provide clean water to communities in need. Go Blue for clean Water has funded and implemented water projects in Rwanda, Kenya and currently working in Cameroon. As Go Blue For Clean Water Continues to Grow, I am passionate about redefining people’s experiences, bringing one-of-a-kind events to the city of Houston, and beyond and create authentic, innovative giving experiences that inspire people to action and water crisis a thing of the past.

Has it been a smooth road?
No. The hardest part has been getting people to join the Go Blue For Clean water movement, raising money and actually implementing something outside of the U.S.

Just like many small nonprofit organizations When starting a nonprofit we push our mission with passion and don’t really take time to layout a business plan because we really don’t look at our organization as a business. I learned this the hard way.
