Hi Cecille, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
It all started six years ago, when my son started preschool, it dawned on me that now that both of my kids are going to school full time, I actually have a free time to myself. I contemplated between going back to the corporate world or starting a business. Jewelry making was an accidental happiness, as I discovered this newfound ambition while helping my children up-cycle old jewelry for an Earth Day school project. I enjoyed it so much that I started designing and creating pieces for myself. The pieces caught the attention of my friends, neighbors and family. Following such a positive response, I began designing, creating and selling jewelry products on the Etsy Handmade sellers site.
Perfectly Imperfect! This is how I describe my jewelry. I designed and create pieces inspired by the mystical energy and beauty of natural crystals and gemstones. I draw inspiration and design pieces using natural beads, crystals and pieces I find from my travels. I love incorporating fashion and nature into my design.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everything in life is what you make it. Having a business is never easy. It takes a lot of courage, hard work, dedication and passion and also being adaptable to change. This pandemic definitely took a toll on my business. I lost most of my corporate events and conferences. I am trying different ways to mitigate these losses. I started consigning my jewelry to other businesses. I also plan to offer wholesale prices for bulk orders. I learned that you have to be adaptable and consistent with your business and to not be afraid to take chances and not be afraid of change.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One of my friends described my design as “fashion meets spirituality.” With my background in the fashion industry and my fascination with all things metaphysical, I designed and create pieces that are fashionable yet mystical. What sets me apart from others is that I go above and beyond with my customers. I value their support. I make pieces that I want to wear myself.
