Meet Celeste Potter of The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Potter.

Celeste Potter

Hi Celeste, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For years, I dreamed of building something meaningful with my family—something that would bring us closer together while creating a space where others could feel cared for and connected. That dream became a reality on October 24th when we opened Serenity Sips. But the journey to get here started long before then, rooted in my personal challenges, the unwavering support of my family, and the guidance of an incredible mentor.

Several years ago, I experienced a personal injury that changed my life. It was a challenging time, filled with difficult decisions about surgeries, medications, and recovery options. Thankfully, I was working for an amazing doctor and businesswoman who specializes in functional medicine. Her guidance was invaluable—she helped me navigate what to do and what to avoid when making decisions about my health. She not only provided me with expert advice but also offered me flexibility and support as I balanced my recovery with my role at The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness.

Through this journey, my family became my greatest cheerleaders, helping me find strength and hope during my recovery. Together, we explored non-invasive and natural approaches to healing, and that experience became the foundation for what Serenity Sips is today. I wanted to create a space that embodied everything I’d learned—prioritizing wellness, fostering community, and making room for the little moments that bring connection and joy.

Every aspect of Serenity Sips, from our premium coffee and tea offerings to our innovative wellness technologies, was carefully curated with intention and love. It reflects the lessons I’ve learned through my recovery, my family’s support, and the mentorship of someone who showed me how to pursue wellness in a way that feels personal and impactful.

Serenity Sips isn’t just a café or wellness space—it’s a testament to the power of resilience, community, and shared dreams. We’re so excited to share this journey with the people who walk through our doors and to grow alongside the incredible community we’ve built this for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a new business, we’re still in the early stages of our journey, but it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like most ventures, we’ve faced challenges along the way, and each one has taught us something valuable.

One of the biggest hurdles we faced was finding the perfect location. We researched a number of potential places, knowing that Serenity Sips needed to feel like a true home—welcoming, accessible, and reflective of the atmosphere we wanted to create. After much thought and exploration, we finally found the space that felt just right, and it’s been so rewarding to see our vision come to life in our new home.

Navigating the permitting process also had its share of challenges, with a lot of moving parts and details to manage. On top of that, balancing all of this while building a brand, preparing for the grand opening, and managing day-to-day responsibilities wasn’t easy. My family has been my greatest support system, helping me juggle everything and reminding me why we started this journey in the first place.

And now, when I see the smiles on our customers’ faces or hear someone say they’ve found a little moment of peace in our space, I know it was all worth it. Those small moments remind me why we’ve worked so hard and why this journey matters so much.

These early challenges have only deepened my appreciation for what we’re building. Every hurdle we’ve faced has pushed us to grow, adapt, and work harder to bring Serenity Sips to life. We’re still just getting started, but I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to tackle whatever comes next!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
About My Work: My career began in 1999 in healthcare administration, where I built a foundation in management and operations. From 2009 to 2014, I served in the U.S. Army National Guard, where I developed leadership, discipline, and resilience while balancing family, education, and career. Since 2011, I’ve served as Practice Administrator for The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness, collaborating with Dr. Mila McManus to grow a functional medicine practice rooted in holistic care. In 2017, I founded Potter Business Management, where I helped small businesses navigate startup planning, operations, and financial strategies—a passion that directly influenced the creation of Serenity Sips.

Much of what makes Serenity Sips special happens behind the scenes—whether it’s strategizing operations, supporting our team, or balancing family life while building this dream together. These quieter efforts, shared with Ryan and our family team, are the foundation of everything Serenity Sips stands for: connection, resilience, and community.

Serenity Sips reflects our dedication to creating a welcoming space where people can pause, connect, and care for their well-being. It’s not just a business—it’s a labor of love that brings together passion, purpose, and community.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice is to remember your why. Starting something new—whether it’s a business, a project, or a new chapter in life—will inevitably come with challenges. When things get tough, staying rooted in your purpose and the reason you began in the first place will keep you motivated and help you push through.

Another important piece of advice is to find mentors and surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. Whether it’s a trusted advisor, an experienced professional in your field, or a supportive friend, having someone to guide you, offer perspective, and cheer you on can make all the difference.

It’s also essential to stay connected to your community and your tribe. These are the people who will support you, champion your vision, and hold you accountable. Community is everything, especially when the road gets bumpy.

Get organized and plan for the unexpected. Building something from the ground up requires a clear vision, structure, and a willingness to adapt when things don’t go as planned (because they won’t!). Setting up systems and being proactive can help you navigate the inevitable surprises more effectively.

Lastly, don’t forget to celebrate the small wins along the way. Starting out is a journey, not a race, and it’s important to take moments to appreciate how far you’ve come.

Looking back, I wish I had known just how much flexibility and patience would be required. Starting Serenity Sips has been an incredible experience, but it’s also a reminder that no journey is perfect or linear. The important thing is to keep showing up, stay true to your vision, and lean into the people and resources that make the process worthwhile.
