Today we’d like to introduce you to Chardae Winston.
Hi Chardae, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, music was always a part of my life. From a young age, I knew it was more than entertainment—it was a way to express myself. Watching people close to me rap inspired me to step into the booth and find my own voice, but my journey became much deeper than that.
After surviving sexual assault, music became my escape and my therapy. Writing lyrics gave me a way to process pain, rebuild my confidence, and turn difficult experiences into purpose. Instead of letting my past define me, I used it as fuel to create music that is honest, energetic, and fearless.
As an artist from Galveston, Texas, I bring a different kind of energy. My music is turnt, lit, confident, and unapologetic. Whether I’m making records to get people hyped or telling real stories from my life, I want listeners to feel my authenticity every time they press play.
I’m building my career one song at a time, proving that where you come from or what you’ve been through doesn’t have to limit where you’re going. My goal is to inspire others to keep pushing, have fun, and never be afraid to be themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being different means people are going to have opinions. I’ve dealt with a lot of judgment, and my music tends to get a love-it-or-hate-it reaction. Not everyone understands my style or my energy, but I’ve learned that’s part of being an artist.
Instead of trying to fit in, I’ve stayed true to myself. The criticism has only motivated me to work harder and keep creating. I believe the right audience will connect with my music, and every challenge has helped me grow both as an artist and as a person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a rapper from Galveston, Texas, focused on creating high-energy music that’s fun, confident, and unapologetically me. I make music that gets people moving while also reflecting my personality and life experiences. I don’t try to sound like anyone else—I create what feels authentic to me.
I’m most proud of staying consistent and continuing to build my career as an independent artist. Every song, performance, and opportunity is another step forward, and I’m proud that I’ve remained true to my vision despite the challenges.
What sets me apart is my energy and originality. People usually have a strong reaction to my music—they either love it or hate it—but they’re rarely indifferent. I embrace that because I’d rather be remembered for being different than overlooked for sounding like everyone else. My goal is to keep growing, representing Galveston, and proving that you don’t have to fit into a box to make an impact.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my family, my fans, and the people who genuinely rock with me. Having their support means everything to me because it keeps me motivated and grounded. My family gives me love and strength, and my fans give me purpose and remind me that my music is reaching people.
I appreciate everyone who supports my journey, whether they’ve been there from the beginning or just discovered me. Knowing people connect with my music and energy is what keeps me going and pushes me to keep growing as an arti
