Meet Chase Hayden of Synergy Chiropractic of Houston in The Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Hayden.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was growing up on the southeast side of Houston, in Pasadena, I dreamed of playing professional baseball for the Houston Astros or professional baseball for the Houston Oilers. I played competitive athletics from the time I could walk and envisioned myself playing under the lights and sounds of a packed stadium. My dreams changed when I was twelve years old and was injured in a football game.

Being carried off of the field by my father, having a difficult time breathing, and crying in pain, I began to question my desires for professional athletics. My parents took me to a chiropractor that specialized in Applied Kinesiology, and that doctor opened my eyes to the possibilities of how our bodies are able to heal, and also a potential new profession (if baseball or football did not work out of course).

Upon graduating high school, I attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah with an emphasis in human biology. Later I completed a doctorate in chiropractic medicine from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. After a brief period working with a chiropractor in southern Utah, I returned to the Houston area in order to open my first office, The Hayden Institute on the northwest side of town (near 1960 and Jones Rd.). Since February 2009, I have been in active practice. The Hayden Institute provides a complementary and alternative approach to medicine, incorporating chiropractic, clinical nutrition, functional neurology, and applied kinesiology approaches to help patients.

Nearly one year ago, on November 1, 2016, I was able to expand into a second office, Synergy Chiropractic of Houston. With this new location, I was able to enlist the help of my younger brother, Dr. Reece Hayden, in order to expand our efforts in helping patients in The Heights and surrounding areas. Dr. Reece is a board certified chiropractor and licensed acupuncturist. Synergy Chiropractic was an established chiropractic office, and the previous owner was retiring after being in the area for nearly 15 years. Upon the purchase of the facility, we rebranded the office to Synergy Chiropractic of Houston and over the last twelve months, have focused on growing the practice through providing optimal pain relief care to those involved in auto accidents and chronic pain syndromes.

The Hayden Institute, and Synergy Chiropractic of Houston continue to provide drug free, non-surgical options to patients in need.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road of a business owner is never smooth, and we have certainly had our share of struggles over the last year. The biggest struggle that we have had come from continuing the previous patient relationships with the previous doctor. Having never purchased a business before, I believed that the transition process would go through without an issue. Naive, I know.

After a few months of struggling and wondering where all of the patients went, Dr. Reece and I had to come together and figure out where we were missing the boat, and how we could turn things back around. Coming from busy and successful practices, we had to regroup and come up with a better strategy to stay busy. Since modifying our schedules, and going back to business building basics, we have been able to serve more patients looking for pain relief that did not know about our office.

The struggles that we have gone through with opening Synergy Chiropractic of Houston have been worth it. They have allowed Dr. Reece and I to modify our office structure in a way to help patients in a more effective way, while still allowing the office to be profitable. Even though it has had its bumps in the road, I would not have changed anything.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Synergy Chiropractic of Houston – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Synergy Chiropractic of Houston specializes in non-surgical, and drug-free approaches to pain management. Many of our patients are referred to our office from other medical providers or have been involved in some form of trauma such as an auto accident, slip, fall, or sports injury. Dr. Reece Hayden, the primary treating doctor in the clinic, is a board-certified chiropractor and licensed acupuncturist. Through these two disciplines, he is able to help patients experience relief. Dr. Chase Hayden is also a board-certified chiropractor, and has additional certifications in functional neurology and applied kinesiology. These specialties provide a framework for neuromusculoskeletal (nervous system, muscular system, and skeletal system) rehabilitation.

As a company, we are proud of the fact that patients and other medical professionals are confident in our ability to manage the patient care, and are willing to refer their loved ones to us. A great majority of our patients are referred to our office, which encourages us to continue treating these individuals like family. Our individualized care and bedside manner set us apart from other offices. Patients frequently comment on how approachable we are, and how they are not treated like they were only a “number.”

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans are to continue to provide excellent care in pain management, while helping to have patients avoid potentially harmful drugs or surgery. Through expanding our impact in the community and reducing the chance of someone developing an addiction to their medications, we know we are making an impact.
