Today we’d like to introduce you to Chassie Anders.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chassie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in Houston but moved to Austin after High School. I decided to go to Cosmetology school when I was 19 + started my career in the beauty industry. I knew from school that I LOVED updos and styling the best. I got a job with a local Austin makeup company that specialized in weddings. So that’s really where it began. I worked there for 4-5 years and then started Crown of Glory in 2014. My husband and I relocated back to Houston in the fall of 2018 and I have been growing my business back here in my hometown since. I have teams in Austin + Houston and travel domestically and internationally for weddings.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Hahaha, absolutely not. While I absolutely love helping brides + woman get ready for their special events, the running the business part has definitely been a challenge. But I think in the struggles is where we find growth, at least that’s been true for me. Austin’s wedding environment is very natural, earthy, and soft. My hair + makeup styles really fit in well there, when I moved to Houston, it really felt at times that everyone was looking for more modern glam, and while that’s beautiful, it’s not what I do typically. I use non-toxic, clean beauty products too, another thing that fits very well in Austin, but in Houston there isn’t as big of a nitch for natural beauty. I was very discouraged at first, but then I started realizing that my brides are out there, they just might not know that I’m even an option. I have met and connected with many wonderful wedding vendors here in Houston in my short time launching here, and I am very thankful for that. Now that I’m passed my beginning year or business here, I have really felt things taking off here in Houston.

Crown of Glory Beauty is a company that specializes in hair + makeup for weddings + other special events. We also sell the non-toxic beauty line we use on all our brides (and that I use at home) and provide lessons for the everyday girl who wants to learn how to create some beauty looks herself at home.
The thing I think we are most proud of is providing our brides/clients with a very comfortable, relaxed getting ready environment. While we are still professionals, we really want to make sure the person in our chair feels heard, seen, and served.
Another thing that makes us unique is that while we want to embrace natural beauty, we also want to embrace the most vulnerable and often overlooked beauty in our city + around the world. That’s why we partner with Houston + Austin ministries that help human trafficking survivors. So when you hire us, you are directly supporting these wonderful ministries.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Hands down the diversity. I really hope to be able to work in a variety of weddings from all different cultures now that I’m back in my home town.
What I like least, definitely that there’s less nature around, especially wish we had some closer lakes…but it’s easily fixed by taking short weekend trips to explore!
