Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheeka Hunt.
Hi Cheeka, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is a story of going from tragedy to triumph. I consider myself a survivor in so many ways. As early as elementary age, I’ve always believed that I was created to make an impact in this world. Growing up, I wanted to be a school teacher and often daydreamed of being a role model like the great patriarchs of our times. The great Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Madame C J Walker and the like. I grew up on stories like this that gave little African American girls like me hope. These stories told me that anything was possible. No matter what I face, They told me that I could still triumph. You may ask why reflect that far back for this moment. In order to share my current life, I must share my past. You see at the age of five, my world began to become confusing after experiencing multiple types of abuse. At seven years old, I lost my father to cancer. That left my life on a journey of instability. Eventually ended up in the home of several abusers. From physical abuse to sexual abuse. By the time I was 12 years old, my spirit was broken and I began a road of permiscuity.
By 15 years old, I was now a 9th grade drop out and a teen mom. By 21 years of age, I became a wife and mother of four… Needless to say, it has not been easy for me. Somehow I manage to triumph inspite of the curve balls sent in my life to destroy me. Someone may ask, how did you make it this far. It was the inner strength given to me by my creator that kept my dreams alive when they kept trying to die. I never gave up and God continued to place people in my life along the way that would grab my hand and lead me to my next place in life. I married my husband whom I’ve been married to now for 28 years and he has been my inspiration. He encouraged me to go back to school and get a career. At 19 years old, I received my cosmetology license and began to create a life for myself. Then something amazing happened I found my life’s purpose. I was called into the ministry at 21 years of age. It sent me on a new road and ultimately caused me to step into the role of teacher. Not a school teacher, but a teacher of life and the scriptures. That opened so many doors for me as I perfected my skill to teach the word of God. I furthered my training by attending The College of Biblical Studies and began to get more and more understanding on how to accurately and effectively teach God’s word. This caused me to enter a new season of teaching all around the United States.
In 2014, I became a campus pastor at a church in Cleveland, Texas. A place where I received on the job training for my next assignment which was becoming the Senior pastor and launching my very own church. This year January 3, 2021 we opened ONE HEART INTERNATIONAL CHURCH. Yes in a pandemic, we were able to provide a place of how for a world that needs answers. In 2018, I wrote my first book titled I SHOWED UP FOR MY LIFE daily devotional and began to host the I Showed Up for My Life Conferences. This book and conference was created to do just what I had to learn to do and that is never stop SHOWING UP for the one life you have been given. I also became a life coach and decided to teach ladies how to deal with the things of the past that may be keeping them from living full out the life they were created to have. Yes, I am a living example that you can rise above obstacles and walk into your divine destiny.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle we’re having confidence in myself. When you have experienced trauma in your life, especially as a child, It can leave you feeling unworthy and incapable of ever seeing yourself worthy to be who you were created to be. I had to learn how to cast down negativity in order to see myself as someone who deserved a better life than what I was subject to and what I had been born into.

Cheeka Hunt Ministries and Cheeka The ShowUp Coach has joined forces and now operate under One Heart International Church. I specialize in Spiritual and Personal Development by providing biblically based teaching & coaching. My clients obtain this by attending seminars, conferences and coaching sessions to provide the tools needed to reach their goals and achieve their purpose in life. What sets me apart from others is I have lived what I teach. I consider myself the Show Up Coach because If you don’t decide to Show Up, you never will become who you set out to be. I provide a judgment-free atmosphere for my clients. Most people want to live a better life but don’t know how to achieve it. I teach them how to remove the layers that holding them back and free themselves by freaking with the root so they can soar.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in predestination. I believe that we all were predetermined by God to fulfill his purpose for our lives. However, I do believe that by submitted to that plan and doing the work opens up opportunity and causes us to be at the right place at the right time.
