Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Livingston, MD FACS.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born and raised in Paducah KY, high school valedictorian and knew early on that I wanted to be a surgeon. As an adolescent, was teased about prominent ears. I had plastic surgery to correct the ear deformity and saw what a change it made in my life, and wanted to do the same for others. Graduated with a BS Biology from Washington and Lee University, completed medical school at University of Louisville School of Medicine (top15%) and trained with the late Red Duke in general surgery at the University of Texas School of Medicine. In 2003 completed plastic surgery training at UT and was assistant professor 2003-2007. Founded Livingston Plastic Surgery in 2007 (private practice) and still find time to train the plastic surgery fellows at the University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been very blessed in my life and have not faced many challenges along the way. Dedication, hard work, diligence, organization, mindfulness, excellent training and mentors have made the difference along with a lot of good luck.
Please tell us about Livingston Plastic Surgery.
Livingston Plastic Surgery is a private practice specializing in cosmetic, reconstructive, and hand surgery. I am double board certified in plastic surgery and hand surgery and re-certified in 2015. I perform every plastic surgery procedure you can think of including breast augmentation, lifts, reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck, facelift, rhinoplasty. Reconstructive surgery is a passion including breast reconstruction following breast cancer and even hand reconstruction following trauma. My practice is a boutique plastic surgery office. We limit the amount of patients we see in one day and spend the time necessary to make you feel comfortable about your procedures and goals. I am very proud of my staff, they treat patients like family, never rushed, thoughtful, warm, and welcome.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have an identical twin brother (Jeff) who lives in Nashville, TN and is an ER physician. We have always been very competitive in academics, sports, and life. I enjoyed my childhood growing up with my family in Paducah, KY. A very small town in Western Kentucky which was very different from the “fast-paced” Houston lifestyle.
