All my life, I’ve been super into music, playing multiple instruments growing up from drums to piano to guitar to sax and violin. I purchased FL Studio on my 15th birthday because while I’ve always been a huge hip hop head thanks to my mom, I started paying more attention to the production and started thinking to myself like, “Hey, I can do that too.” While I started making and sending out beats to local artists, I came to a roadblock: Nobody wanted to use them (probably because I was a little kid who wasn’t quite that good yet). So, I started rapping over my own beats, taking inspiration from some of my favorite MC’s like Earl, Kendrick, Kanye, Big L, and more. I’ve worked relentlessly, with about a thousand beats made three years later. Still working on getting my name out there because I know I have the natural talent, creativity and work ethic to be the greatest artist ever.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Financial issues, managing time with school, traditional Kenyan parents have probably been my biggest struggles, but nothing in this realm could ever get KXRIUKI to quit.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
While I specialize in music production, I’m also a songwriter and engineer. The best thing about a KXRIUKI beat is you know it’s a KXRIUKI beat, and your song will be set apart from the competition in the best way possible.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve always been known as a pretty unlucky guy, so I just play the hand I’m dealt and keep it pushing. KXRIUKI does not quit.
