Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Ford.
Christie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Cooking has been a passion for me ever since I was a little girl. At the age of 12, I watched my grandmother, Julia, in New Orleans, cook different meals that brought joy to people’s lives. After seeing how food could bring comfort and people together, this is what influenced me to start my culinary career. I started my catering business in 2009 in New Orleans. After moving to Houston, I continued to pursue my passion. I’m presently building clientele here in Houston and New Orleans as well. It has introduced me to new opportunities of networking and marketing to enhance my business career.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for me. When starting a new business you are trying to plan accordingly in all areas and also trying to be prepared for anything. Learning how to manage my finances in regard to, purchasing the proper equipment, understanding, and also learning how to properly start a catering company as well. Booking events while coming up with a great price point for customers has been a great learning experience for me. Although it is overwhelming, it’s nice to see it all come together and the biggest reward is to see my customers happy.
Christie’s Creative Cookery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Christie’s Creative cookery is a Houston based catering service. I specialize in providing customers with a great cajun and creole taste of food. We are known for making sure that our customers are satisfied with the food that we’ve prepared for them. We use fresh ingredients to provide our meals with an exquisite taste. I’m proud of my culinary journey. I’ve experienced many ups and downs, but I’ve never gave up along the way. I will continue to push myself to reach beyond my limits. This is what sets me apart from others.
