

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christien Flamand.
Christien, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Moxie’s originated in Canada and has grown into a national brand that operates locations across Canada from coast to coast. Moxie’s premium, high energy approach, coupled with a commitment to fresh quality ingredients, and a passion for delivering exceptional, friendly service has proven to be highly successful in Canada. More recently Moxie’s shifted its focus on growth to the United States and specifically to Texas. Dallas was a natural choice for our inaugural U.S location as the concept is owned by Dallas Star proprietor, Tom Gaglardi. We moved into Dallas’ historic Crescent Building last November, and the welcome received since opening our doors has been astounding. Houston seemed to be an obvious next step, as it’s also known for having a strong, dynamic and international dining scene.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although we had a successful debut in Dallas, we knew there were some possible drawbacks to choosing it as our launching spot. The city has a prevalent dining scene and savvy consumers, so if a concept isn’t bringing something unique to the table, it will likely not succeed. We spent a great deal of time perfecting our menu and creating a memorable atmosphere to ensure Moxie’s did bring a unique experience to the Dallas dining landscape. Our goal was to create an experience for Dallasites that has the high quality they expect, but that is also fun, friendly and social. We did the same as we prepared to open in Houston.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re excited to be in Houston! I’ll consider our work at Moxie’s a success if I look around and see guests truly enjoying themselves. We’ll know that we played a part in bringing people the Moxie’s experience of delicious food, creative cocktails, and a lively high energy atmosphere.
