Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Roquemore.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christopher. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I got started in healthcare during my tenure with the US Navy. While in the service, I decided to finish my undergrad degree in healthcare and pursue my dream of becoming an RN. Well during clinical rotations, I realized the clinical aspect of healthcare wasn’t my niche, but the administrative side was. From there, I finished my undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration and took a position as an Operations Director for the largest urgent care organization in the US, and my life’s trajectory to off. From there I dove into not only operations, but analytics and operational excellence (process improvement). Since then I’ve worked for Fortune 500 companies and grown in roles such as National Executive Director and VP of Operations. Educational, I’ve earned several degrees to include an MSIT, an MBA from University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX, and I’m currently a doctoral (DHSc) candidate with A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Kirksville, MO. I also have executive certificates from Notre Dame University, Villanova University and Harvard University, which includes a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success has never been an easy one. The first half of my childhood, I grew up in a rough area called Forum Park on the southwest side of Houston, TX. The other half I bounced around from place to place and was unsure of how life would turn out, since I had such a rough start. As an adult, I’ve been laid off as many other individuals have. That upbringing as a child and adolescent made me tougher. I had to show perseverance not only to myself, but now my wife and children, while claiming the blessing I know God has bestowed upon me.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in hospital/ambulatory facility operations and process improvement. My sole purpose is to bring in the eye of a consultant (outside view) to audit and assess situations. This allows me to change the current state to an ideal working environment, while reducing waste (time, finances, etc.) and providing efficiency. In 2018, I was requested to improve patient wait times for a large community hospital in San Antonio, TX. With me going in and using this special skillset, I saved the organization an estimated amount of $1.7 million in revenue. Many people have the ability to use the Lean Six Sigma methodology, but few know how to execute it, while also understanding healthcare operations as a whole.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a normal kid. Just happy and green to the world. But I was also the individual that always noticed the minute things, and wondered why it worked a certain way or how could I change it.
