Today we’d like to introduce you to Chun Wai Chan.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My parents want me to attend the Olympics as a swimmer when I was little. But I have fall in love with dance when I follow my older sister to the dance school. I am so grateful to the teachers and people who helped me along my dance career. Can’t achieve this far without them.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a ballerino, a male dancer, who love delivering many stories without words. The ballet world it’s more about girls, so I do my best to stay strong and partnering them to show their best. I want the audience to realize an Asian men can do classical ballet well as main character in one of the top company in America.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
As an artist we can’t be super rich. We contribute our time, maybe while life to whatever art form we are in. I see that more value than money. Never give up, you will find it worth it.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I perform with Houston Ballet, so if you like to see my shows please check out the Houstonballet.org for more information. You can also see some of my work though my Instagram- @chunner
