Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Pruitt.
Cindy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My businesses were all born from necessity.
I suffer from Agoraphobia and found myself in the position of needing to find a way to work from home back in 2004. I found online web development courses through Houston Community College and completed their Web Publishing curriculum back in 2008. I was doing graphic design, web design, and audio recording all during this time, but wanted to get a full education so I could provide better designs and higher quality for my clients.
The web design led to SEO as my clients needed traffic to their websites. Wanting to always provide better service and more value led to learning PPC advertising and Digital Marketing. I became certified through Google for AdWords and Analytics, have certifications for SEO through SEMrush, I am a Certified Professional Digital Marketer and in 2017, my company became certified partners of Digital Marketer out of Austin. In 2016, I opened my second internet business, Social Media Houston, we focus on Social Media Management and Marketing.
All throughout since 2005, I have been using my evenings and weekend to run my recording studio, Smiley Face Records. I am fortunate enough to be a voting member of NARAS (The GRAMMYs) and have recorded several local acts including J Metro, Tipsy Kitten, Bayou City Women’s Choir, and Colonial Blue/Stephanie Rice among others. I myself am a musician and songwriter, so being in the studio is truly my other passion.
I may have limited travel abilities, but I am doing the best to make the most out of my little corner of the Montrose!
Has it been a smooth road?
The not being able to travel has been a huge struggle. I have lost clients due to not being able to go to their location for meetings. But the beauty of Digital Marketing and Web Design is that everything can be done, and done well via phone calls and email. Also starting as a solopreneur and then growing to need staff has been a big transition. Lots of learning and missteps along the way. Lots and lots of very LONG hours. But, it has been worth it and I am blessed to be my own boss and have had some great clients over the years.

Graphics by Cindy is a Web Development and Digital Marketing firm. We focus mainly on Web Design, SEO, PPC advertising, lead generation and full sales funnels. We top the search engines for terms like “web design Houston”, SEO Houston”, etc. We are A+ rated with the better business bureau.
Social Media Houston is a social media marketing firm. We focus on managing and marketing across social media for businesses. Building brand awareness and generating leads.
Smiley Face Records is an analog/digital recording facility. We focus on organic recording and production. We are a ProTools facility. We only take on limited projects each year.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a great place to do business. We have a very diverse and strong business force. The people are friendly and down to earth. Even though we are known mainly for oil and the medical industries, there is WAY more to Houston than that! It is a great place to get rooted and carve out your own little niche!
