Meet Claudia Cooper of City Group Properties in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Cooper.

Claudia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2016, I had just graduated college and my broker asked me what my next steps were. I shared with him that I was going to try and find a good paying accounting job but he said that I should think about giving Real Estate a chance. I thought about it for a bit and decided I had nothing to lose and gave it a shot. The first year was difficult as I had to change my mindset from a 20 year employee to a self-employed business owner. I had to shift focus and quickly learn how to run a business while taking care of my family. I went from working 40hrs a week to working 80-90hrs a week. But no matter how much I worked, I knew one thing. That if I kept moving forward, I would eventually see success. And that is exactly what happened. All the late-night hours working and working almost every day finally paid off. I am at a much better place now in my business and personal life that I was four years ago. My recipe for success is simple, keep God first place in everything you do, don’t ever give up and you will reach your destination.

Has it been a smooth road?
A very wise friend once told me, “Your struggles do not define you but they shape the person you become when you face them and overcome.” The road to success has not been easy. I have experienced many obstacles along the way that have had the opportunity to prevent me from moving forward with my goals, but at the end of the day I learned to stay in faith and believe God for every little thing that tried to hinder my destiny. My struggles have taught me discipline. They have taught me to think outside the box. And they have taught me that everything has an appointed time and my job is to be at peace no matter the situation. I strongly believe that my struggles have helped shape and mold me into a much nicer, kinder, gentler woman full of unshakable peace.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the City Group Properties story. Tell us more about the business.
City Group Properties is a full-service Real Estate Brokerage. We pretty much do anything and everything under the sun. From Residential to Commercial, to New Construction Homes, to Luxury Owner Financed Homes we do it all! I have personally helped over 150 families purchase their dream homes in all of the Houston and surrounding areas. I have helped families purchase their first home, as well as families that are moving into their second homes and even families that are downsizing.

What sets me apart from others is probably my tenacious work ethic and the fact that I have helped both buyers and sellers. This means that my experience as a buyers agent comes in handy when I list homes because I know how buyers agents play the game. And the same goes for when I represent buyers, since I work as a sellers agent I am able to send offers that the sellers cannot refuse and in turn execute contracts for my clients. Also, my company aims at presenting the best marketing for each of our properties. From having amazing listing photos and videos to creating YouTube channels and websites for our properties. Our broker is uniquely creative and is always on a mission to help us not only stand out from our competition but also to help us reach our goals.

I would also like to add one amazing thing that just happened to my company. Out of 1,000’s of Real Estate Brokerages in the State of Texas, The Texas Association of Realtors gave an Acts of Kindness Award to only a handful of Brokerages and City Group Properties was one of those awarded! Our Heart has always been to be a blessing to others, since we have been so blessed, and Our Mission has always been to leave our clients better off than when we first met them. We were honored to receive such an amazing award and we will strive to continue to help those in need.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As with everything else in life, change is something that is going to happen and it is inevitable. It is just a matter of time. The way I see it, you have to learn to adapt to the change and keep moving forward. I see technology changing the way consumers buy and sell Real Estate, but at the end of the day nothing beats a personal relationship with your friendly, experienced Agent that can help you navigate through the Real Estate process and provide that human touch that has the ability to keep everyone’s emotions in place.
