Meet Claudia Werner of Anja Drewes Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Werner.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Claudia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and partially raised in Bremerhaven, Germany. My parents moved to Mexico from Germany when I was 6 years old. I lived in Mexico until I was 13. Then I returned to Germany to complete my schooling education. At the age of 22, I moved to Houston TX to learn English and complete a work student exchange program in the import/export industry. I have been in Houston since, 28 years now. I started working in real estate 3 years ago because I wanted a profession that would allow me a flexible schedule. My broker Anja Drewes and I have been very close friends for about 28 years and working with Anja also seemed very appealing.

Being a realtor allows me to be my own boss, arrange my own hours and also truly take responsibility for my own actions. If I don’t work, no money comes in! It has definitively allowed me the flexibility I needed in my current life. I get to meet new and interesting people on a weekly basis and I am never stuck behind a desk for more than a day. I truly enjoy the challenge of finding the perfect dream home for people and then seeing their faces once we close and the home is theirs. It’s an awesome feeling!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Real Estate is a hard business to get started in. But I was prepared for the challenges and I have my husband and his IT business to back me up. Without this support, it would not have been possible as it is very expensive to market yourself and pay all the fees and schooling without an initial income.

Please tell us about Anja Drewes Properties.
Anja Drewes Properties is located in Sugar Land and I am the only Spring/The Woodlands agent. It is great being able to offer a completely different market to our clients but still work with Anja Drewes Properties. Anja strives very much in doing things properly and with not shortcuts like that approach very much, it is honest and straight forward home selling or buying for our clients. Anja and I are both German expats so we market a lot to fellow expats in Houston. We have created a Facebook group called Germans in Houston and have 917 members and growing…. we also attend German events around town to market ourselves.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories are the summers I spent with my father road tripping through Mexico and stopping at all the mayor pyramids along the way.
