Today we’d like to introduce you to Colton Smith.
Hi Colton, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was growing up, I was bullied pretty badly. So when I was in high school and college, I started taking martial arts and going to the gym. I started competing in tournaments across Houston and Texas and started doing really well at them. I then decided that I wanted to help others build confidence and become a better person through martial arts and fitness regardless of their limitations and setbacks.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve had a lot of setbacks, from not enough time to work schedules getting in the way, but the pandemic made me realize that there is never a “perfect” time for anything. You just have to get out there and start.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I teach martial arts, kickboxing and fitness classes both in person and online. What sets me apart is I can do one on one or group classes, or if you can’t do in person, I can set up a program for you to learn at your own pace and time when it’s most convenient for you from anywhere in the United States. I may be based in Houston, but I can train anyone online and still give the one-on-one coaching as if they were right here with me.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My grandma, mom and the rest of my family have been really supportive of this dream. When I go to compete, they will always try to go so I’m not alone. I would also like to give a shout-out to my friend Tyler for getting me out of my shell and first teaching me how to fight.
