Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Rivas.
Felicia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a little girl, I’d watch my uncle create masterpieces with flowers for weddings and other events. I started tagging along and helping him set up as a teenager. I fell back in love with the floral decoration part of wedding planning all over again as I planned my own wedding. In the months following, I started taking classes at the Houston School of Flowers for fun. Soon after I attended various wedding workshops and provided the wedding florals for a couple of friends and before I knew it .. Como La Flor Flowers was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There is so much that goes into starting a new business, obstacles are just part of the journey. I feel blessed to have been able to meet and collaborate with so many wonderfully talented women in this industry. They have really helped guide me in this market.
Como La Flor Flowers – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Como La Flor Flowers is a floral company, specializing in creative floral arrangements, and event florals. I love flowers and working with them, but I really love creating installations and floral focal points. Your wedding guests won’t remember little things like the color of your linen, but they will definitely remember your altar or the beautiful floral installation welcoming their arrival to your wedding. That’s what I can do for you.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’m happy doing what I love; that is number one. I didn’t start Como La For Flowers for the income, I started it because I wanted flowers to be part of my everyday life. I am happy to say that I am at a point where I have fresh flowers in my house daily and get to “play” with fresh flowers at least a couple times a week. The second best thing is helping my brides achieve their dream wedding. I absolutely love daydreaming with them and participating in this back and forth inspo pic texting! I get to be part of the fun part of wedding planning! What’s better than that?!
