Today we’d like to introduce you to Connor Throckmorton.
Hi Connor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am from deep East Texas and have always wanted to be an attorney and move to the big city. So I did! I came to Houston for law school, and I started practicing law in 2017. In 2020, I opened my own law firm, and I have been around ever since!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have certainly had failures throughout my career and my life. Everyone’s struggles are their own, but the important thing is to learn from failure and look forward.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own Throckmorton Law Firm, and I am a civil rights/labor & employment attorney. I’m sure people know me for my eccentric nature and my propensity to dress casually, but I hope I am known as the attorney who will actually take the time to listen to clients and make them feel heard, regardless of the outcome.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t be afraid of failure, and be yourself without apology. I wish I had someone there to tell me that the clout that comes from the perfect grades, the perfect school, and overwhelming extracurriculars only matter for about the first three years into your career. Your personality, charm, thoughtfulness, and emotional intelligence (i.e., “soft skills”) serve you much better than where you come from.
