Meet Cory Grant of Real Estate – Corytherealestateguy in West Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Grant.

Cory, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got started in Real Estate 3 years ago while I was teaching at a school in the community I grew up in. I was introduced to the business while in the process of shifting careers to something that would supplement my and give me the flexibility I wanted to spend more time with my family. I initially started on the investment side of the business studying creative ways to help struggling homeowners with real estate issues. The learning curve was high, for me at least, and I needed something a bit more stable. Here is when I researched practicing real estate as a realtor. It was an industry where I could really use my natural skills to build relationships with people while helping them through their real estate process, whether they were buying, selling or investing. When I got into the business, it took me a year to do my first deal since I was still teaching at the time and I had to adapt to the industry. Since then, I have been successful and continue improving in my craft daily.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been the easiest thing to do. Like I stated earlier, It took me an entire year from when I started in the business to get my first deal done. Like anything else, it was a huge learning curve. Even though I had sales experience prior to me becoming an educator, real estate was a different style of sales. I had to figure things out part-time because I already had a full-time job. I wasn’t able to utilize the business hours in the day out of my full-time obligations so that immediately put me at a disadvantage. The times that I did get an opportunity to work with someone were few and far in between which became very frustrating at times. Not truly understanding the business, not being able to be mentored properly and not being able to develop the skills needed to be successful was discouraging because I had big plans and things weren’t quite working out.

Please tell us about Real Estate – Corytherealestateguy.
The company I work for is eXp Realty. I educate and help people attain homeownership. I am known for giving people clarity on the home buying process and working with them through the entire process. I am most proud of actually doing what I set out to do in the first place. I get more time with my family because I set my own hours. I get to work with all sorts of people in helping them achieve their real estate goals and my company gives my the ability to brand myself the way I choose which allows me to take the approach to the business with my vision. What sets me apart from others is my personalized, hands-on approach. When a person calls, they get me. When a problem occurs, I personally see that it gets resolved. My clients know when they hire me, they not only are getting the best representation but also developing a long-lasting relationship.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would have to say when I was afforded the opportunity to play college football and get my school paid for so that my mom wouldn’t have to.
