Meet Cristina Casas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Casas.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Art was always a big part of me. My first memory of anything artistic is from Pre-k. My mom taught me how to draw a heart. It was difficult and I remember almost giving up, but she insisted I try over and over until I finally got it. That vivid moment set off a ripple of creativity that would soon lead me to where I am now. It lives on with me, and I carry it close through the times I feel like giving up on my dreams in the artistic community. Being able to express myself through all of the canvases the world has to offer me has opened a lot of doors for me through friendships, and life. I am extremely grateful.

Please tell us about your art.
Art is everywhere to me. My favorite thing to do is recreate anything that catches my eye. Whether it’s on people or paper, or even if I have to make it, I love challenging myself and inspiring others to push their boundaries. There is no limit for you, and once you push yourself, you’d be surprised how far you’ll go. If there’s one thing anyone can take away from my art, is that I threw 110% of myself into it. It may not be great to the next person, but to me, it’s what takes me away, it’s a part of me.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
A lot of people see art as “easy” and “quick”. They never truly see the countless hours put into learning how to master a craft. Many artists make a living selling their craft, and when people don’t want to pay for the value of what they are receiving it makes it hard on an artist. A lot of us have to turn to full-time jobs because of bills, and other costly things, so adding everything up to our schedule makes it hard to even focus on what we truly want to do, which is art.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Many people can see my work through social media. A like/comment/share goes a long way for me.
