Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Gill and Isabel Pelaez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cristina and Isabel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We (Cristina and Isabel) met in graduate school and became fast friends as we were the only Hispanic students in the class. In between classes and study sessions, we used to dream and strategize about opening a private practice to help our community. After graduate school, we both took different career paths working in a variety of settings such as acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health, among others in the Houston area, gaining valuable knowledge and experience.
In late 2016, we met over dinner and it was then that we decided that it was time to make our dream a reality. In 2017, we opened Momentum Therapy Center to provide quality bilingual speech therapy services to individuals of all ages. Therapy services focused on speech, language, feeding/swallowing delays and disorders. In 2018, occupational therapy services were included to offer skilled rehabilitation to address daily functional tasks such as fine motor skills and sensory-related delays.
Has it been a smooth road?
When we opened the Momentum Therapy Center, our vision was clear. We wanted to provide quality speech and occupation services to children and adults. We knew how to do therapy and what we needed to do for our clients to be successful, however we did not anticipate how challenging running a business would be. We are fortunate that we have the support of our family. As the clinic has grown, we’ve had the opportunity to hire qualified individuals to join the team and apply their expertise for Momentum Therapy Center to be successful.
It has definitely not been smooth, but despite the many struggles and challenges, we continue to hold the same passion for making a difference in our client’s lives.

At Momentum Therapy Center, we are dedicated to providing quality patient-centered bilingual speech and occupation therapy for individuals of all ages. We provide one on one therapy following a focused sensory approach and caregiver education to promote carry over in the home setting.
As a company, we are most proud of the level of quality of care that we provide and the bond that we form with each patient and family. As bilingual Speech-Language Pathologists, we believe we have found a niche in Houston’s diverse market. We always strive to provide positive feedback and feasible solutions to our caregivers and patients.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a great city to start a business. Despite the size of the city, we find that there is a sense of community. Diversity is something that sets Houston apart and as a bilingual practice, we find that we are able to better serve our community.
