Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal and Marcel Scruggs.
Marcel and Crystal both started their journey of speaking and public service dedication on the campus of Texas Southern University. As student leaders, we both were very passionate about personal branding, professional development and directing our peers in the line of successful journeys. As we grew, learned more and became headliners together for young business events. Our entrepreneurial projects and success workshops enhanced our productivity in our hometowns and around the city of Houston. We later decided that formatting our passion to help others succeed could also be a business. This sparked not only a business relationship, but we are now married and business partners. Marcel and Crystal Operations became MCOperations (MCO) in 2016 when we hosted, planned and executed a young leaders conference for aspiring entrepreneurs. Five years later, MCO continues to teach insight on being successful through personal branding and marketing, strategic investment, financial literacy, personal and professional growth, motivational impact around the world. Many people don’t see this talent to inspire and improve others as a business but the passion behind it has enhanced many lives over the past years.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Doing what you love always comes with ups and downs. Over the past five years, we have collectively hosted, planned and facilitated over 100 events that impacted hundred of students, young adults and entrepreneurs. Not all of those speaking engagements were profitable in the beginning and it seemed as if we were giving so much and in return receiving nothing. But… we learned along the way, that our purpose was not to be profitable but to inspire and teach a generation of people who would be better in their lifespan. What we initially thought was our struggle became our biggest blessing because we began to receive follow ups from people who did things they’d never imagined all because they listened to our message.
MCOperations – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
MCOperations specialize in millennial led consulting for people, ideas and visions. We enhance businesses that inspire dominate their industry through the use of strategic marketing, workshops, content creation, internet innovations and organic resources. Our motto is “Success doesn’t just happen, you have to create it.” All of our methods are non-traditional and it gives us the ability to make the millennials of today the owners of tomorrow. We are known for helping others succeed. MCO takes what you have, mixes it with what we have and produces what you desire in your journey to becoming successful. We operate as an extension to your business and brand in order to fully meet your needs, wants and desires.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We personally define success as a footsteps. Literally meaning that as long as you are leaving footprints in your journey, you are moving closer and closer to what you want to accomplish. Our criteria include seeing what you want before you even start. When you see footprints, it means you are not where you once were nor are you standing still. You are growing, expanding and extending to the goal. This is true success.
