Meet Cynthia Azzam of Cynsational Massage in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Azzam.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in my 40s wanting a career change. I went to Esthetics school and while doing facials and massaging hands and necks I wanted to do more, I wanted to massage the entire body for total well being and relaxation, So I went to massage school to get my license not really realizing that become a massage therapist would end up being my livelihood. I’ve been in business for myself since 2007. Being a massage therapist has given me the freedom to be myself, to be independent and to be in control. I was my own boss.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The unpredictability of the business was a bit unnerving, there is no paycheck coming to you every two weeks and learning to budget and plan for the unknown is a scary thing. Once established, however, the business started to flow and many clients became regulars.

Another struggle was allowing total strangers into your home, not all massage clients are created equal… Some needed stricter behavior and others were easy and respectful. I learned about me, I learned to set my boundaries, to be assertive and take control. It was most important to give a very professional impression from the second I opened my door.

Now that I have been in business for over 10 years and most of my clients are regulars the road is indeed a smooth one.

Please tell us about Cynsational Massage.
I call myself a massage artist. I flow with the music that’s being played. My technique is an integration of diverse modalities. The base of a typical massage is Swedish. I do not follow the same sequence for each message. No two massages are the same because no two people are the same. I work in accordance to the body and to what it tells me it needs. The majority of each message is Swedish with a firm and therapeutic touch including foot and hand reflexology. My technique is devised to calm the mind and relax the body.

Although it is a professional therapeutic massage it can be called a sensual massage strictly in terms of technique. I flow to the rhythm of the music sometimes Jazzy blues and other times new flamenco.

My passion for touch and healing will be felt by my clients 100% of the time.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I can remember a past life but have little recollection for my childhood in this life.
