Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Hart.
Cynthia, please share your story with us.
I went through a tough time in life battling a strong addiction that is all too common. I was given the opportunity to fight this deadly battle, and I took it. I completed treatment and returned to work better than ever. I wanted to be so involved in every aspect of the community. I noticed that there were not a lot of shelters for women after they completed stays in treatment. This issue concerned me quite a bit, and I decided to take action. My fiance and I decided that since we were in a good place we can help change women’s lives for the better. The same way I was changed. We decided we were going to buy a house to solely give a place for women to stay after battling alcoholism. By doing this selfless act, I am helping women live a better life and help them get back on their feet. I am giving them a hand to grab and letting them know they are not alone. We give them a furnished house and room for a highly discounted rent to remove these women from the lives they lived before. I have supported Walgreens fund-raisers and included these women in them. I have brought joy, love and a sense of worth to all these women I am helping. Who knows how many lives I will change or how many women I will help get back on their feet. At the end of the day, who needs to count? I am a Walgreens employee out here making a difference.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Addiction is a daily struggle. With support, counseling and a loving God all thing are possible.
