Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dalia Martinez. Dalia was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Zoe Krushall-Jimenez.
Dalia , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young girl, my dream was to become a cosmetologist. My cousin was in cosmetology through out her high school years, and she would always cut mine, and my families hair. Always watching her cut someone’s hair made me want to do it even more. I tried to get myself into makeup, but I just couldn’t do it. I felt like I didn’t have the patience for it, so I let that go. I always looked forward to going to high school because I knew as soon as I got there, I was going to join the cosmetology program. I couldn’t join until my sophomore year because those were just the rules. So I waited, until I finally got to join. Being in the program was the best thing I ever did for myself. From cutting hair, to dyeing customers hair, that was my passion. I truly enjoyed it, more than I even knew. I was in the program for three years and learned more and more as it went by. In 2020, my senior year, COVID happened. It ruined every single thing that I had going on that year. I was closer to finishing my hours, and getting my license and nothing made me happier. But as most of us know after spring break, we didn’t go back to school. I was home all the time still getting my hours, but I just felt hopeless. I felt like everything was ruined. The passion I once had for cosmetology got ruined by COVID. After a while I stopped caring for it so I let all of that go. I had got all of my hours, but never went to take my state board exam because of that reason. Some time went by and I was tired of working at HEB. I wanted to do something for myself, but I never knew exactly what. I was so stuck between nails, and eyelash extensions. Time went by and I was still in the same place. Until one day my boyfriend got tired of me not being happy in my work place, and finally convinced me to go do an eyelash course. And let me tell you.. that was the best thing I could’ve ever done! Doing eyelashes is what I love now. I love making my clients feel even more confident in theirselves. I love being the one my clients can rely on because I don’t cancel on them, and I’m always there for my clients wether it’s about eyelashes or their personal life. I’ve got to connect with all of my clients, and that’s what I love about my job. I’ve always had a big support system ever since I first started doing eyelashes, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that. I’m thankful my clients trust me to be their lash tech. I only plan to get better as the time goes. I also plan on taking my cosmetology test now, so I can be licensed! So I guess it all worked out in the end! I couldn’t be more thankful. Please tell us more about your brand, Lashed By D
I do eyelashes. Classics, hybrids, and volumes. Yes, there are other lash techs in the area, but I feel what sets me apart from others is the way my eyelashes look. Nobody’s work looks the same, although they are all great lash techs too. My sets are always fluffy, and full. So far none of my clients have left unsatisfied, and I’m grateful for that. As a brand, I’m proud of how fast I have evolved. I’ve only been a lash tech for a year, and my clientele is so good. My retention, and the way my sets look are also really good. Most of my clients know how to take care of their extensions, and always come back with a good amount of lashes for their refill. That’s what makes me so happy to be in this industry. To know that I’m doing something so good, and making others feel more beautiful.

I only started going to Zoe this year, February 2022 to be exact. At first I was skeptical of going to her because of things other people were saying about her, but looking at her work I just had to go to her! Zoe is not only my nail tech, she has become a friend. Everytime I go to her it’s nothing but good vibes. She’s always so positive and uplifting, and you don’t get that from anyone these days. Zoe has never left me unsatisfied with my nails. She always gives me what I ask for, and MORE! I’m the type that when I get my nails done I want to like them the whole time I have them on, not just the first day I get them done, and with Zoe that’s exactly what happened. I never get tired of my nails because you can just tell she puts her whole heart into it. I’m so glad I started going to her, and I will continue to go to her! In my book, she is and will always be the best nail tech. ❤️
