Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalsy Salazar.
Dalsy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story began when I started working for a waxing company here in Houston, I worked there for less than two years before I decided to go out on my own. The company I was working for was very stressful. They wanted you to act a certain way and I was treated very poorly to where even the clients that I had there could notice.
I always had clients tell me that they would follow me if I ever left the company which was always making me wonder. I was twenty years old when I finally left the company and went out on my own it was one of the most stressful decisions I have ever made. I felt like some people couldn’t take me serious being so young. My parents thought I was joking when I told them what my plans were, they kept telling me that it was going to be a lot of work and that it was going to be a risk. I was aware of the risk but I kept telling myself I’ll never know if I succeed unless I try.
So I started looking for office spaces to see where could be the best area that I could afford at the moment. I ended up picking one signed the lease and went home that night telling my parents my move-in date they thought I was crazy. I finally had moved in and had everything settled I never thought it would be easy but I was not prepared for how hard everything was going to be. I have worked like crazy to be where I am now, people are always so surprised by how young I am and how crazy my drive is for success. I am very happy where I am right now and I am excited about what else the future has in store for me. I am thankful for all of my clients that have made everything possible because without them I would not be where I am now.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride, when I first started I was so broke and I was barely able to cover my rent. I have always wanted to make my parents proud I never wanted them to see me struggle so I always refused to ask them for any help. I am so proud to say I have been able to do everything on my own it came with a ton of stress but I have pushed through. I want to say the first couple of months were the hardest. I didn’t have many clients I remember my parents asking me how many clients I would have for the week and me lying to them just because I didn’t want to feel like a disappointment. Slowly but surely business was picking up. It was a ton of word of mouth and social media that has helped me be where I am today. It’s crazy because when I first started there were times where I would have only two clients a week and now I have people texting me daily for me to try to squeeze them into my schedule for the week.
Hard work pays off, I never gave up on myself I always kept pushing because I knew I wouldn’t settle for failure. I don’t have many people I know who run their own business so trying to figure out everything one step at a time was very hard there is so much that goes into running a business. It blows my mind that I am here doing it all on my own. I am learning every day, nothing in life ever comes easy but I am truly thankful for where I am now. When I had my first suite it was very simple, the decor wasn’t anything crazy because I couldn’t afford to go all out. Now in my new suite, I did the absolute most, installed new flooring. I bought all new decor and it is the most beautiful suite ever. Everyone who steps into my suite is always in love with how it looks. It makes me so happy being able to see my old suite and the one I have now. You can truly tell how much love I put into it the second you walk in, it’s just a constant reminder of how hard I have worked. This is now my second year in business I am so happy to be able to say that, I hope to have plenty of more years to go. I look back at all the hard moments that I have gone through and it makes it all worth it.

I specialize in full body waxing and eyelash lifts, I don’t want to brag but I am known for having one of the best and most affordable lash lifting services in Houston. I am proud of how far my company has gone in just a little over a year, it makes me happy that all my hard work has truly paid off. What sets me apart from others is how comfortable I can make my clients, I get so many that tell me the other places that they have gone to they had the most awkward experience. My clients tell me they feel so welcomed the second they step into my suite just by how warm and cozy it is. I build such a bond with each of my clients, we can gossip about almost everything I make the effort in getting to know each and every single one of them. To me, it’s more than just getting them in and out the door. I enjoy talking to everyone I meet it is one of the best parts about my job.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future would be to open salons around Houston but of course, that’s my long term goal. I have more services I am planning to add to Beauté Bar soon that I am really excited about. I really love the idea of a one stop shop where you could get most of the services you like in one spot. With more services being added it means having to add more people to my business so I am looking forward to eventually add more people and have a great team.
