Today we’d like to introduce you to DAMARIS SALGADO RODRIGUEZ
DAMARIS, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Venezuela. Wife for the second time, after losing my husband in our country due to the political situation. Mother of 3 beautiful boys, one of them Texan and I have been in this country for 10 years. I am a business administrator and I started from 0 as an emigrant doing different jobs. In 2017, I arrived from Florida to Texas, building a very successful family fast food business despite the time of the pandemic. At the end of 2022 we decided to close it to dedicate time to our children and embark on other horizons. I started in the insurance industry and am taking step by step to a new life. We want to make a little difference in this country that opened its doors to us and it is part of what we want to leave behind from the good things that we learned in our roots.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been easy. We come from a wonderful country in its time. Both my husband and I are professionals and starting from 0 with the language limitation was one of the strongest obstacles but nothing impossible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am an independent insurance agent. But I am currently working hand in hand with an Agency called JL LATINO SEGURO. Company that opened its doors and hearts to me in this new stage of life. A wonderful stand that has allowed me to learn how to attract the Latino population in the insurance area.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
This market is very competitive. The Latino community is one of the most vulnerable and if we can help them in what was once an obstacle for us, we will do it. That is why presenting the greatest attention to service is a standard in what I currently do.
