Meet Damien LeDay of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damien LeDay.

Hi Damien, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got laid-off from my oil & gas job in 2025. During my search for a new job, all I could hear in the back of my mind was the growing voices of all the people who have told me I needed to pursue comedy over the years. So, I figured I had nothing to lose and nothing but time on my hands. When I had finally built up the courage to try it, I went to an open mic – only to find out that it was cancelled that night, I ended up googling local comedy shows and saw there was one called “For The Culture” at the The Secret Group, hosted up A.D. Hodge. I attended that same night, and during the show he said he was light on comics. I took that as a sign, and, after the show, I asked him for a chance. He gave me a spot on the next show, and he laughed at jokes. From there, I kept coming back and built up my material. About 6 months after that first show. I entered into a comedy competition at The Hive for a chance to open up for Ali Saddiq. Over 50+ comedians of all levels got accepted. I finished 2nd place to veteran comic LilDarrel. That competition really solidified my choice to be a comedian, as well as introduced my to rest of the comics of the city. From there, I’ve performed feature spots all over, guest spots at the Improv, hosted shows, and headlined at All Jokes Aside comedy lounge.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey definitely has its high and lows. A few jokes that don’t quite land, a few late nights, or a crowd member that just won’t shut up. But, I have been taking my time and letting things develop organically, It’s a marathon not a sprint – no matter how fast I may want to “run”. I have had a life long love of comedy and making people laugh, so to finally actually pursue it on stage has been great. I’m open to all avenues of comedic expression.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a stand-up comedian & actor. I base my material off of relatable, observational, off-the-cuff, witty life comedy. My supporters know me for my improvisational style, and delivery – as well as my laugh. I like to let the jokes feed into each other. I’m proud of my ability to craft new material. I really don’t like to repeat jokes too often, so I’m constantly thinking of new material. I want repeat audiences to be engaged with my performance.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Authenticity! My jokes are me. Remembering that helps me deliver to my best ability.
