Our business was started in 2008 as one of the first resources for quality eyeglass lenses online. Every time you needed a new pair of glasses you would have to buy new frames as well. This can become very expensive since your eyes should be checked at least every two years. We offer the convenience of shopping from your home and getting your product delivered to your door step. No more fighting traffic, missing work, or waiting in lines for your product.
Has it been a smooth road?
As a small business, our biggest challenge is getting the word out. Since we have customers all across the United States and international, it is difficult to advertise everywhere. We are confident that we offer a superior product and unmatched service but the struggle of reaching such a vast area is a real challenge.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Eyeglass Lens Direct story. Tell us more about the business.
Two distinct differences:
1. We do not sell frames so we specialize in working with used frames. This saves customers several hundred dollars because they don’t have to always purchase new frames.
2. You can actually pick the lens you want from a specific manufacturer and customize it. Our competitors don’t offer this, they just sell you lens. Usually you don’t know what brand you are getting and many people are not even aware that brands exist. Lenses are just like cars, there are Mazdas and there are Mercedes.
We carry the top brands and most up to date technology for our customers. As a custom shop, we can handle any type of optical needs such as goggles, swim masks, ski masks, safety glasses anything that needs a prescription lens we can install.
We have the pleasure of working with some very exotic and vintage glasses for our customers.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have just hired a marketing professional to grow our business. There is a major shift in the industry and almost everyone offers online service now. It is fast, easy, and very convenient to order online and have your merchandise deliver to your front door. It is no surprise that our biggest markets are Texas, New York, and California,
Currently there is already an online eye test which we may offer in the future. Then you can do your exam and order your lenses online as well.
We may also offer frames in the future to become a one stop shop for our customers
