Meet Daniel Acosta of Sosstaco in Alief

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Acosta.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
What really got me into making beats was when I was in 8th grade. Drake and Future dropped “What a time to be alive” and I was impressed at the beats that Metro Boomin and Southside did in the Album. I started to lookup more producers and I became interested in the whole producing scene, I just didn’t know how and when to start. Moved back to Houston my sophomore year, and I talked to my cousin about making beats. Ironically, he uses to make dubstep and EDM music, so he was an expert on it. He helped me learn the basics and got FL studio on his computer. When I first started, I had no headphones or speaker. and my beats were complete garbage. I was to blind to see they were garbage. I even use to post them on Instagram and people would say they were trash.

But then I started learning more by myself on how to be a better producer, and I started making way better beats. That same year, Uno savage from all the way in Atlanta found me on Instagram and saw one of my beats. He hit me up saying he wanted it. He was the first person ever to reach out to me for beats. And ever since then, We just started going up. Fast forward to now, me and Uno Savage are still dropping music, and we only gotten more recognition and gotten better. We have over ill say 300k views or more combined on music we have together, and not to mention 100K just on one song (Throw yo set up). We are not where we want to be yet but we will continue to be a duo and try to make it out. I have music under my name as well on Apple Music and Spotify, and I plan to drop an EP this year one by myself and also one me and Uno are in talks to do, a collaborative mixtape between us.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Two of my laptops have messed up and died along the way, making me not make beats for like three months or so. But now I have two jobs so I shouldn’t worry about it anymore. But those three months were hell for me. I wanted to make beats so bad. I missed it a lot, but I feel like sometimes you have to fall to get back up and push even harder.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
It’s not really a company, I’m just an 18 years old dude from Alief making beats and selling them and making money off of it. I guess you can call it my little business. But every time the music I produced gets more recognition, my prices will go up. But to my Real Friends and Family you won’t have to pay a dime for my beats. Specially if you supported me since day one.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I feel like Houston, more in the Alief side is extremely diverse, which leads to people not judging you for what you want to do. Something that I don’t like about it though is although they won’t judge you, most people won’t support you either until you are making big moves. I feel like if we all support each other and stop dry hating, we could all go on top.
